Somebody needs to be a little more imaginative if all they can come up with is Harbaugh or keeping Rich Rodriguez. The dude asked everyone to hold hands and sing to Josh Groban at the football banquet!

That's become my biggest gripe about the fan reaction here.

If you think Rodriguez sucks and should be fired, that's good. He's stunk. But if you have it in your mind that it's Harbaugh or Bust, then you're in for a heaping helping of disappointment.

There are plenty of great coaches that can do better than the filth Rodriguez has thrown out onto the field. If you think he should be fired, then not being able to get Harbaugh into Ann Arbor shouldn't be the thing that makes you say, "Eh, RichRod isn't that bad..."

If he sucks, get rid of him. If you want to dump him because of one specific coach, that's a recipe for failure, because then you're completely fucking over a team's chemistry and play style for no reason than to make a change at the top.

What he said. It's a storied program with a history of success; RichRod has flopped on both counts. He was just the wrong guy for the job, grabbed by Martin when he botched the Miles deal because Rich was viewed as a hot commodity. He just didn't fit. There are a lot of solid coaches out there.

And the same to you this jolly holiday season. RichRod is a corner cutter who does stuff other guys won't to get an edge; that was his rep in West Virginia and he proved it in spades in Ann Arbor. He is not a Michigan nor a Big Ten coach. Send him back down here, where he belongs. Maybe he can take over for Houston in Oxford, after he brought in Masoli.

If he should be fired it's because his teams suck. He seems to be doing a pretty good job developing his players into humble caring young men.

And enough with the michigan man stuff. What makes him not a Michigan man except not having started his career at Michigan.

If Harbaugh doesn't want it, go to Chris Peterson. If Chris Peterson doesn't want it, go to Gary Patterson. Those are the 3 big names I'd pursue. At worst you'd think they'd be able to pry Patterson away from TCU, but who knows these days.

After that, is there another "name" coach out there to pursue? Les Miles again? Kyle Wittingham from Utah? Top coordinators like Will Mushcamp or Kirby Smart? Brady Hoke again? It would be real interesting to see what happened if they made a move and didn't get "their guy" again.

RichRod didn't fit before he was hired, should be no surprise he doesn't fit after. His style simply isn't Michigan football. It's rather nauseating to watch to be honest. QB left, QB right, QB up the middle - meanwhile the other team is pounding he ball down his throat.

Well, I didn't mean that kind of "lack of fit"; if a coach wants to come in and run the spread, the pro set or the Split T, that's all right by me if he knows what he's doing. Football offenses have evolved with time, athlete qualities and rule changes. He is just not a guy I want to see running the Michigan football program. I think he's demonstrated he has a good mind for running a successful offense.
