  • I'm trying to remember who that team was.

    • One of the SI guys I think, maybe Stewart Mandel a week or so ago?

Anywho, on the subject of UM, their defense is slooooooowww. Indiana's WRs and RBs made them look like erosion on many plays. It's definitely going to be shootouts in games they win for the rest of the year and real struggles when the run up against good defensive teams like Iowa, Penn St and OSU.

      • All signs point to a shootout, but in cases where the consensus is near unanimous it seems like the opposite happens.

        • A co-worker of mine gave me an old 1928 Michigan/Navy pregame program today. The 1928 Wolverines weren't one of their better ones, but it was still cool to look at. Great condition, too.

          • Wolverines get the punter they targeted in Will Hagerup. They didn't offer Sadler, who went to MSU, and were in a battle with Ohio State for Hagerup. Very fortunate, as this is Mesko's final season in A2.

            • That gamble was looking shaky for a bit there.

              • Especially when Hagerup was reportedly "blown away" by his visit to OSU when they played USC. That was a big-time atmosphere.

                • this must be a hell of a punter for people to actually give a shit about where he winds up.

                  • Many coaches claim the punt is the most important play in football.

                    • #3 punter in the country, #8 player overall in Wisconsin.

                      • Rich Rod seems like the kind of coach a punter would love. A punter might get to run two or three actual offensive plays in his system, over 4 years.

                        • There's a credible argument that meskos punting was a difference in the game Sunday.

                            • I always worry a bit when UM loses one of their 4-year kickers. They always seem to struggle for a year or maybe 2 before finding another good one.

                              • I never understand when some of the big time programs don't have good kickers. Its like they refuse to have them. Michigan doesn't have this problem, but really there never should be a time where you don't have a good kicking unit.

Thats the one thing MSU does have, they don't bother to field a defense or pick a QB. But they generally always have a good kicker and punter. This year though they miss a kickoff specialist, Swenson cannot boom the kickoffs and State couldn't be bothered to cover.
