  • Rich Rod sucks balls.. Bring a Michigan man home.

You mean like Bo? Oh wait he came here from Ohio. Bring in the W's and all the people at The Fort who are stuck in the past will quite right down and later can weed out the rest. I never thought I would see the day where U-M vs Western is a must to stop the bleeding. Anything less than 7 wins I say RR could be gone.

      • I find it amusing that people are so willing to denigrate the Carr years as if the program had fallen off a cliff and they had to change everything and bring in some whole new system and these people who object are malcontents. Carr might have slipped at the end and some of his tactics might have lost their bite, they needed the approach with an improvement in recruiting and a change in some game tactics. In short a newer more energized version of Carr was needed, he probably got too comfortable and loyal to his assistants. I'm sure a lot of these people who don't like the guy see it this way. Those people aren't going away. Booster infighting is not fun for your program.

If Rodriguez turns it into a national power all of this will have blown over. But I told you before Carr left that the transition to the successor could be very tricky if it isn't a guy everyone could get behind. And Rodriguez for whatever reason is not a guy that everyone cares for.

          • I don't care that they went outside the program. After Les Miles, my favorite guys were Chris Peterson from Boise State or Jeff Tedford. They just fucked up the whole process and then brought in a guy with some baggage and an abrasive attittude that's pissing off a lot of people. The fact that he's completely overhauling the program is only adding to the mess.

That's true, and you can take the statements made by the father's of the current players with a grain of salt if you prefer, but the article mentioned the anonymous parents of former players. Therefore, why should one set of parents be believed but not the other?

                    • Its impressive that Herbstreit thinks that, but once again the everybody does it argument isn't a good defense. The rule may be absurd and may need to be modified, but I don't see where the witch hunt meme comes from. If you are the media member and someone tells you this and you do some checking up on it and you find that there could be violations you don't hold the story. Thats a dereliction of duty.

Also, you don't go investigating every top school to see if they are doing it to justify why this school is doing it. If every school is doing it and everybody is on board with it, the NCAA should not do anything about it and then change the rule.

I liked Carr overall, but I felt he stayed a little too long. My first choice was Chris Peterson of Boise State, though his name was never mentioned as a replacement. I just think it's stupid for some people to be sabotaging their own program because they didn't get the guy they wanted. It happened at Ohio State and Alabama too. I guess it's unavoidable.

                        • Are they sabotaging it or they think its headed in the wrong direction with him? I guess it depends on the POV

Its unavoidable if the guy that comes in isn't what everyone wanted. And that can be exacerbated if the guy gives the brush off to people behind the scenes. Little stupid things can deepen the divide. Jim Carty has written on how the Justin Boren saga turned off a lot of insiders because Boren was seen as a hardworking(if arrogant) player that had no problems with the previous staff and whatever happened between him and Rodriguez it was spun as he was a lazy, pizza eating lineman who didn't want to work hard.

Also, coming in and saying(or whispering) that you have to wait to get your players to win doesn't help the cause.

                          • Was Brian Kelly considered?

At MSU it was between him and Dantonio and it appears we couldn't go wrong as both are very good.

                            • I don't remember kelly being considered. He bombed the intrview in EL and I think that doomed his ever getting a shot at Michigan.
