  • Florida Atlantic's Dusty May has been hired as the next men's basketball coach at Michigan, agreeing to a five-year contract that averages $3.75 million annually.

Sounds like it could be a good move. I guess it couldn’t get much worse.

    • Seems like a good hire.

Im still not sure how Howard went from being so sought after to being such a screwup. Howard could have had the Lakers job.
      F#*K OHIO!!!

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

      • Didn’t see a better spot for this, but this Tyler Warren kid from Penn State seems like a Dan Campbell kind of player.

        • We officially do not have a good football team this season. I thought the bye week came at the prefect time but we instead have our worst performance of the year after having 2 weeks to work out the kinks and maybe heal up.

I think it's hard to say how much is personnel and how much is coaching. We lost so many guys but I really expected the drop to be to something like 8-4 and now it feels like we'll have to work hard just to be 6-6.

          Yikes.

          • Bielema has been building Illinois, my alma mater btw, into a legit good program. Most experts rank them in the top-5 in the Big 10 (behind Oregon, OSU, PSU & surprising Indiana). Losing to them on the road in a clear rebuilding year with a rookie head coach shouldn't be cause for panic. Harbaugh left the starting cupboard almost bare after last season.

            The Big 10 is tough

                • I'm surprised they have won what they have with no QB.
Personally, I thought 7 was the high water mark - and that's if the defense won them a game or two.

Guess you'll have to get used to panicking :-)

When they were ranked #9 to start the season I was like no way. Now it's hugely obvious they shouldn't be in the top 25. It's been obvious. They could realistically finish the year at 6-6 and probably will.

Moore is in over his head. He doesn't have enough experience to be a coach over a top quality team at this time. Someone with more experience is needed, Moore seems lost in both his in game coaching decisions and his interviews.

                        • If you want an example of how disruptive the Wolverines offseason was, just look at the team they played in the Championship Game last year.

Turns out losing a whole bunch of 4th and 5th year seniors, and trying to assemble a coaching staff on a shortened calendar due to a long prior season can be pretty effin' hard. You guys went all in last season just like Washington, both had the prior coach bail and take critical coaches with them, and this is the price to pay for that.

Relax, Wolvy. This season really demonstrates nothing about Moore's ability to recruit or coach. It's a down year with a stripped down squad. It'll be okay.

                          • Weird game yesterday. Moore outcoached Jonathon Smith.

                            • It's been a solid week for Wolverines fans. Both basketball teams won their mid-week games and the football team flipped the #1 player in the country. Also, Franz Wagner won Eastern Conference Player of the Week (the first Wolverine to do so since Jamal Crawford in 2006, IIRC) and then hit a step-back 3 at the buzzer to beat the Lakers.

The only real downer was the Field Hockey team losing in the first round of the NCAA's. The championships are going on in Ann Arbor over the weekend.

Hopefully, the football team can get a W today and be bowl eligible.

                              • Gee, it's almost like trying to judge a coach's ability to recruit based on what amounts to a half-offseason while trying to rebuild his coaching staff is a bit premature or some shit.

I swear, sometimes I want to bulk order horse tranquilizers for Wolverines fans. Ya'll need to fuckin' relax.
