And that honestly is probably no small part of the reason why Michigan ran such a spring scrimmage type offense and defense against Iowa. Why give a potential opponent more tape unless you absolutely have to?

    • In the most unsurprising controversial decision ever, Alabama is #4, and the playoff committee kneels down to suck off the SEC once again.

Im not sure how much of that was by choice. They tried a few things early but the Hawkeye DL was all over McCarthy. Much like the Penn State game, think they just decided to take risk out of the equation since it was clear Iowa wasn’t going to score by driving it down the field on offense.

That Iowa defense is no joke.

          • The Bama D is not a particularly good one by their standards, but Turner and Braswell are dynamic pass rushers. M going to need to find that running game to win this.

It’s the right move, FSU isn’t good. Is it fair? Nope, the players for FSU should be pissed but Bama is a far superior team. Hell they’re probably the best team in the playoffs and that’s saying a lot as they’re not as stacked with talent as they normally are.

Michigan / Bama will be a good game.
              F#*K OHIO!!!

McCarthy just hasn’t looked the same over the last month. He keeps eating sacks trying to get away from defenders instead of throwing the ball away. Hopefully they use the next month to get him healthy or through whatever this is.

I have never in my life seen a special teams play like that. How in the holy hell did he make that tackle.

The runner was gassed per the announcer.

                  • The gunner that missed the initial tackle was the one that caught him. It was a sweet play

Well, in terms of raw talent, I believe this Alabama roster is rated the most talented by the composite recruiting rankings since they started tracking - the only team to ever have an average roster rating above a 4 star.

FSU had a better record and did it against superior competition. Bama was outplayed by Auburn and at one point had less than a 1% chance of winning. Auburn is not good. The SEC is over-rated this year. Usually, they are the best conference by a wide margin, but not this season.

Ohio State is the team that's really getting jobbed here, not that I particularly mind. Some computer rankings have them at #2 behind UM. They have the best loss of the 1-loss teams and two top-15 wins.

Say what you want about Bama but they beat the #1 team in the land. I thought Georgia was unbeatable

                          • There are several sets of criteria you can use to determine the four teams that should play:

                            (a) Resume: (1) Michigan (2) Washington (3) Florida St (4) Texas
                            (b) Best four (computer power rankings): (1) Michigan (2) Washington (3) Texas (4) Ohio St
                            (c) Generates the most revenue: (1) Michigan (2) Washington (3) Texas (4) Alabama

                            • Are you shocked that the NCAA took (c)?

                              • Of course not, just pointing out that it was the criteria used, despite lip service otherwise. CNN had a clip on this that I thought was well done, but I can't find it atm.

I keep hearing arguments that Alabama deserves it over FSU because they're "better", but deserves it over Ohio St because they have a better resume. That's cherry-picking. Either it's the "best 4" or the teams with the best resume.

Anyway, next year will be the first time in history that NCAA football will have a legit D1 national champion. I'm looking forward to it. There will be teams that can argue they should be in the field, but it'll be like the basketball tourney. If you exclude the 10th or 11th best team, you're not excluding a team with a reasonable claim to being the best team in America.
