  • I know of Sam Webb. Don't follow him. But if he really truly believes that Ohio State lost that game on purpose to spite Michigan, then he's a fucking moron of epic proportions, and so is any other UM fan who believes that.

There may very well be a small vocal minority of moronic fans who actually believe that, but it's obviously the exception and not the rule.

Urban Meyer's plan was to beat Michigan State, beat Michigan, and then win another National Championship. Pretty simple.

There's a local UM slappy named Sam Webb who apparently has a radio show in Michigan. He has a fervent Walverine following because he tells them what they want to hear about how every recruit is coming to UM (unless they don't have the grades, or Harbaugh doesn't want them) who is actually telling people with a straight face that the only explanation for State beating the Buckeyes is that Meyer wanted to stick it to the Harbaugh's and lost the game on purpose. You can't make that shit up.
Stay off the Red Cedar board. IF Webb said that, it was surely in jest. But I know how it'll be taken by the anal hurt. He's a huge homer, but there's no way he believes that.

      • he was joking. Very clearly kidding because the OSU gameplan was so very stupid.

You know when a receiver takes his eyes off the ball to catch a glimpse of the oncoming LB that's about to nail his ass and he drops it...same thing. Meyer wanted to win this game but he wants to beat Michigan more.

Edit: Also, Dantonio is one hell of a coach.

You are saying that they took State lightly because they were looking past them to Michigan? Ha!

Meyer knows what is at stake in every game.

That is just stupid. He needed to run the table to get to the playoff. He wanted win every game as much as any other.

            Maybe Mass is right...

Yep, I think the players may have got caught sleepin a little due to many factors. Cook being out, the weather, being at home, Michigan on the horizon. Just throwing that out there. Don't get me wrong, Sparty came to play and seemed to dominate the game, but I don't feel like we got the best OSU had to offer for whatever reason.

All wins are important, but doesn't a win over Michigan mean just a little bit more? Am I wrong in thinking this? For me personally, a win over OSU means just a little bit more than the rest of the wins.

              • But a loss in the second to last week of the regular season means you don't get a shot at the national championship.

I'm not buying a letdown in that situation.

                • Or maybe... just maybe... the OSU we saw all season was the real OSU, and they weren't all that good.

                    • M fans and their abundant arrogance never ceases to amaze me. OSU looked past the only team that has beaten them on a semi regular basis on their way to possibly a second straight NC?????????? Sure they did. Hopefully Pedo St. will be looking forward to next year's M game this Saturday.

                      • I don't for a second think Meyer was looking past State. Did the players let down their guard a bit when they knew Cook was going to be out? Maybe, but they sure as hell shouldn't have given their performance all season.

Wish I could believe that. BTW, I'm not either one, although root for/follow MSU more. Chippewa, but that's not exactly "big time football".

I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.
