I think they're sabotaging him in part because they think he's heading the program in the wrong direction. People resist change. I also think there are a lot of hurt feelings. Gary Danielson said much the same thing in a recent interview. It started with the overhaul of the weight room and the implication (or maybe it was stated) that the S&C program was out-of-date. I heard a guy call in to a radio station yesterday claiming to be a former assistant to Mike Gittleson, and he was very upset that people are saying that Barwis' workouts are tougher than Gittleson's. Well, Ryan Mundy, who played for both Michigan and West Virginia, said the the Mountaineers regimen was more strenuous. There are also those who are loyal to Lloyd Carr for various reasons who don't like RR's confident, some say arrogant, demeanor and his commitment to doing things his own way, but they forget that the man who built the current program was cut from the same cloth. The only difference is that Bo succeeded Bump Elliott, while RichRod's tenure follows 40 years of football success. Spoiled Michigan fans don't just want to win; they want to win "The Michigan Way" - whatever that is. I've been most proud of Rick Leach who has said, "He's our coach, and we need to get behind him."

So far they haven't won with Rodriguez thats a big factor as well. They came in talking a big game especially with the workout regimen. Ryan Mundy might say its more strenuous, but the impression the whole gives publicly is that the Lloyd Carr program was a bunch of Pizza eaters. And really didn't shut that down, when guys left like Boren, that was the main reason that would filter out through guys like Sam Webb and various people like him. He didn't want to work hard.
When you have 40 years of success, if someone comes in tearing things up and making it seem like they have some superior program you are going to alienate a lot of people. Plus are they competing in hang cleans or football? There is a point of diminishing returns when you are weight lifting.
I think its less about spoiled football fans more than a whole administration built on success and you have a guy whos had less success coming in doing things differently and some of the things that are being done may be seen as a repudiation of what was done prior.

I had no problem with Carr, and have no problem with Rodriguez. I would have preferred Les Miles, but Herbstreit blew that...
Herbstreit did not blow it, he tried to have a breaking story with wrong information. LLLLOYD Carr is the one who basically told Michigan "over my dead body" about hiring Miles. Carr has personal issues with Miles that has nothing to do with football.

I think the problem is people don't want to wait through a rebuilding program at Michigan, because lets be honest they really haven't had anything near the kind of rebuilding thats going on now in 40 years. They have had plenty of retoolings, but never a full blown rebuilding project.
The Rich Rod experience is kinda like imploding the Silverdome a couple of seasons before Ford Field is finished, the fans should expect some harsh cold days supporting this team till it's built (if it lasts long enough to be built in the first place).
