Notre Dame cowardly shit their britches, nothing more, nothing less.

Michigan's AD will push Delaney to fervently dismantle the ACC and hurt Notre Dame more than Notre Dame hurt Michigan.
Oh please. ND has played Michigan State and Purdue something like 25 years longer than they played Michigan. And what does that say about U-M when the Wolverines backed out for something like 3 decades? Then again... yellow IS one of Michigan's school colors.

College football doesn't revolve around Ann Arbor anymore (if it ever really did). Get used to it.

But go ahead and pretend it's just because ND is scared of some second tier team. Arrogance is all you Wolverines have at this point.

    • Let's break it down this way.

Let's say Michigan for one reason or another were to change conferences. They have space in their new schedule for two games, and have to decide among MSU, OSU, and Notre Dame.

MSU is their primary in-state rival. They aren't dropping that one.

OSU is the longer rival with more tradition. They aren't dropping that one.

Guess who the odd team out is? Yep. The Fighting Irish.

It's the same sort of deal. Purdue is their MSU. MSU is their Ohio State. Michigan is the odd man out. It's certainly not fear.

The irony is that the major reason MSU is their longer standing rival is because U-M ran away from the matchup with Notre Dame for something like 30 years. The Wolverines musta been REAL SKURRED.

      • Hoke was speaking to a bunch of alumni and donors. It was total propaganda to get them fired up. People are making way too much of this.

Michigan is no longer a second tier program, that is the point. They are a top 5 national recruiting team, and it is trending up. Michigan is simply one too many 50/50 games for Notre Dame. They need W's, enter Purdue (no one cares about that game nationally) and Navy.

If Michigan was a second tier program, Notre Dame would obviously be still scheduling it, Michigan is a national draw, big ratings, big crowds, big headlines. Also, good chance Michigan will knock Notre Dame out of BCS Bowl consideration.

            • Name a ND MSU game that had any national significance in the past 30 years??

as we have witnessed in many other threads, the delusion is high with this one.

Actually you were pretty much agreeing with me every step of the way the last few months. Your delusional MSU football allegiance keep you at a safe distance from my brilliance. :>) Whatevs.

Tell us more about MSUs recruiting success (Drake Harris dumped you Lawrence Marshall just dumped you after leading you on) and then compare that nonsense to the easy to verify truth. Hoke has murdered your modest program success the last two years and it will get worse the next two years and beyond. And I am no homer I don't care about the UM MSU rivalry, it is just the way things worked out. It is the conclusion the facts lead a rational brain to. Your program is a step below UM and OSU. It could be 2 steps soon unless Dantonio can stop the bleeding.

                  • recruiting .... who the fuck cares if you win a mythical recruiting title ... State has been dominant over UM on the field recently ... as you assuredly aware.

murdered .... lol. Pretty sure State was one play away from beating UM again last year ..... on your field.

Recruiting matters, but your homerism forces you to make impossible arguments. When you are neutral, if you can be neutral, you will see the things you care not to see.

                        • Hearing Deuce claim Mass is being a homer here is hilarious.

It's simple math, Poop. Notre Dame has two games with three rivals. Tell me... if U-M had to choose between MSU/OSU/ND... which one is the odd man out? It's the same sort of deal for Notre Dame.

And I love how you ignore that the major reason Michigan doesn't have the same history with ND was because (by your logic) they must have been running skurred from the Irish for about 30 years.

                          • We get it Chemi. Everyone gets it. Jesus Christ.

It was good natured ribbing in which Hoke got to poke ND and MSU in the eye in a friendly setting. Get over it.

Ftr, to claim that Purdue is a bigger rival is laughable. They may have played more often, but that doesn't make the games mean more.

                              • I'd put ND as a bigger rival for Michigan (in football) than spartie. It's been interesting the last few years but things are shifting back to normal.
