  • Clowney got there faster than anyone expected. He went lateral really quick and then burst forward like a rocket and hit like a freight train.

From the way the OL was blocking, Smith was probably supposed to immediately cut right hard away from Clowney's side. He was probably slow to get to the ball but Clowney was where he was way faster than they expected.

    • As a Michigan fan, even I'm mad at the refs for blowing that spot call because it seemed to make Clowney and the rest of the Gamecocks mad. The shame in all this is that Lewan handled Clowney very well, but now Clowney gets to be immortalized for blowing up Vincent Smith (not that he isn't a great player, but he wasn't setting the world on fire until that play). Terrible playcall btw, Smith hasn't done much all year, and running up the gut out of the I-formation is definitely not his forte.

Secondary was terrible, which goes to show that most college stats are a crock. Gardner made some nice plays but also left a lot of throws on the field. I didn't like the two-point plays they ran either. Mattison's blitzed didn't get home in time. And the most frustrating thing is that the defense couldn't make that one last tackle to effectively seal the game, or at least ensure that South Carolina would get no better than a FG attempt. Gruden was right about one thing; Michigan doesn't have that one stud pass rusher who can close out a game. They haven't had that type of guy since when, Brandon Graham?

      • Omg at this ^ ..... Just when I thought I had read the stupidest thing evah.

Do you call in to sports talk radio.

Your team got one of the most blantantly horrific blown calls in your favor and you use that as your excuse crutch. Wow.

        • Please point out where I directly attributed Michigan's loss to a blown call in their favor. I'll wait. The comment was actually meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but whatever. I'm sorry I didn't make that clear enough (not sarcasm). Also, did you not read the second paragraph where I criticized the Michigan players and coaches?

          • If the players on the defense came up with either of the 2 missed sacks they should have had on the Gamecocks last drive they would have probably won that game.

            P.S.
I think the ball was placed a foot short of where it should have been on that supposed bad call anyway. I think they could have got it with a normal play call like as if it was 4th and inches in any case ???

Reminds me of Mateen Cleaves in the way he almost always smiles and seems to exude positivity.

He's a great guy. Hope he's there for the Lions to pick in the 4th round or so.

If he can return kicks the Lions will trade up into the 2nd to get him.

If he runs bettwr than a 4.35 like he claims, someone will take him in the 2nd. His open field running and his ability to run away from CBs will get him taken early. He has proven he can run, and not just when the play breaks down in the pocket type running, he ran hard and inside the tackles for 4 years.

                      • Yeah, he can certainly be a Darren Sproles type of multi-tool back.

Well im still not sure he will not have injury issues, but this game running from the RB position at least showed me he has some strength in his running game. Running from the QB position he is trying to take care of his body a lot and that may have lead to him getting dinged. Maybe running harder will keep him from being like a nail and allow him to be more like a hammer keeping him healthier. He is a speed back and will never be a bruiser obviously but you can't be holding back.

No one was capable of blocking CLOWNEY on that play bcz he properly diagnosed and blew that play up with his PLAYMAKER ability.

                              • Definitely that open 'AIR' in front of him had no chance and 'WHIFFED IT' as CLOWNEY's PLAYMAKER ability was just to much.
