Sure they do. I'm not contending MSU is somehow this super team that was jobbed with an undefeated season or anything.

But generally when I compare two teams, I tend to put a little more weight on the game that featured both teams playing against each other. That you keep trying to deflect from that head-to-head matchup tells me you know it too.

MSU > Michigan; maybe not much, and next year is a whole new season, but for right now, it's still the truth, no matter how much you hate it and want to pretend it isn't.

Hey, I'm not the one arguing that head-to-head is the only thing that matters and then doing 180 flip to say head-to-head doesn't matter AT ALL.

If MSU's victory over Michigan indicates superiority, then so does Nebraska's win over MSU.

Dude, pass the good stuff. You scored 3 points at Nebraska. MSU was not a good road team.
And 37 on Iowa. Part of it is the matchup and MSU matches up quite well with UofM... and is also a little bit better overall.

I've never argued once that the head to head is theonly thing that mtters. But it's certainly more important that any single non-head to head game.

Yet anytime I bring up Nebraska, every single MSU fan refuses to admit they are the better team. I wonder why that is?

Exactly. And if Michigan gets slighted another I'll complain. But it won't do any good. I'm all for fixing the system, but I don't see it happening when money is involved.

                • Michigan 58-0 oner Minnesota!

                  Michigan State 31-24 over Minnesota.

                  Both were home games.

                  We're WAY better!

                  • MSU shouldn't be mad that they didn't get a BCS bid, they weren't eligible for a BCS game.

And why aren't they mad at the Cap One bowl for passing them over? If they were smart (but because they are Sparties we know they are not) they'd be celebrating UM in the sugar bowl because it allows them to play Jan 1 instead of the insight bowl in December.

                    • Personally I think UM beats State at state if the game was played today. To my eyes, the State game woke the team up to how physical the game is in the big ten. They played much better after the state game than before.

Fitz averaging 135 ypg in the five weeks after the game seems to bear that out a little.

That's the thing. You look at the common opponents and you get a different result for almost every game.

The 2 teams were about as closely matched as you can possibly be. They had identical season records if you ignore the Big Ten title game loss for MSU. They have almost identical rankings. They each beat up on teams the other team lost to.

MSU won the head-up game, IN East Lansing, like the home team is SUPPOSED TO when you have evenly matched teams. Good for them. It got them to the Big Ten title game over Michigan.

This idea that winning the game wasn't enough, that MSU must be perceived by EVERYONE as being superior to Michigan by any measure is ridiculous. You won the game with Michigan this year. Kudos. That win got you a title game appearance. Be glad there wasn't a rematch with Michigan like you got from Wisconsin.

Maybe because I'm not saying the head to head is the only factor? Why would I have to hold your hand through why Nebraska isn't a better team this season when I didn't make that claim?

And isn't just mentioning Iowa kill this type of thought?

I hope UofM stomps VT I do and I'm not blaming UofM for how the BCS works one bit.

Respectfully disagree on that logic. The Iowa loss and OSU shouldn't have taken you to the limit @ home like that as well if UofM was a significantly better team later in the season.

Also MSU improved over the course of the season as well.

Yes, I would LOVE to hear the reasons why a team that stomped you 24-3 isn't a better team than you. I need my daily dose of comedy.
