He expects young people to be respectful and not mouthy no matter what their race. He has a right to do that. You say he's racist because he does this. It's fucking BULLSHIT. Falls admonished Clay for his actions and mouthyness not for his skin color but too you any white person who says something negative about a black person they are racist. Joe Falls was echoing the status quo; his readers wanted to believe that Cassius Clay was wrong in aggressively questioning the mores of his era. That's all he was doing; he did not embrace a hedonistic lifestyle. You can't compare him to rappers or something like that. We do not, in the modern era, expect people to refrain from criticizing their elders or the government; in fact, we revel in it. He would be considered mainstream today.
