Michigan fans are behaving after this little winning streak in basketball exactly like MSU fans were after putting together this current winning streak against U-M in football.
Both sides talking shit when they still have years of work to do before it would it be even remotely close to even.

I see a few years of being humbled didn't change any attitudes
You got a lot of good young players on that team. Even if State reverts back to its normal self right away next year it's still going to be dog fights for a while. And these players genuinely don't like each other. MSU and winsconsin have been the most exciting games to watch from intensity standpoints but this has the makings for some nice battles. I haven't seen shit talking in a college game like this in a while. I look forward more battles.Rashean Mathis: "I'm an egg guy. Last year we didn't have (the omelet station). I think most fans (myself included) are just enjoying the fact that we swept spartie for the first time since '97. This doesn't mean we now have the better basketball program overall but it does mean we had the better team this year. We also have the 6th youngest team in the country and two Top 100 recruits coming in so the future is looking brighter for Michigan Basketball.
Also, the Player Development Center is supposed to be completed by next fall and Crisler is getting a 52 million dollar facelift.
Newer facilities played a part in the pendulum swinging spartie's way in the mid-to-late 90's, along with Mo' Taylor's SUV tipping over with Mateen Cleaves in it and the Pandora's box that opened.
With Michigan finally building a state of the art practice facility and updating Crisler, coupled with the team's success and already improved recruiting, it is conceivable that Michigan can start stealing back some of msu's thunder. I don't think that means spartie will be down (unless Izzo jumps ship for the NBA, which isn't out of the question) but I think that means the state could have 2 basketball powers in the way some other states have 2 marquee teams.
Things point to there not being any stretches where one team goes 4-18 against the other team but more likely there will be a lot of 1-1 seasons.
spartie does have some good recruits coming in as well but they are losing Kalin Lucas and Durrell Summers so it's conceivable that they'll be headed for another kind of 9-9 season in the Big 10 whereas Michigan should do better than that in conference next year with Zack & Stu being Seniors, Morris being a Junior and with the normal jump in improvement that most players make between their Freshman on Sophomore years. Plus, we are adding at least 2 rotation players in Trey Burke (who looks like a very good PG) and Carlton Brundidge (who looks like a good scorer). They may still add a 3rd player in either Max Bielfeidt or Larry Nance Jr. Both seem to be potential diamonds in the rough, the way Jordan Morgan was.
There's a lot to like right now about Michigan Basketball and there's a fair bit to wonder about spartieball.
I think that's the sentiment that most people have.Last edited by *JD*; March 6, 2011, 10:35 AM.

But Izzo and Lucas need to STFU about that Morris lay-up. Fucking babies. State has been beating up on UM for years and years and they're mad that Morris got a garbage lay-up? LMFAOAAL: KhaDarel Hodges

Actually Lucas and Morris both played it off as nothing more than competitive juices flowing when asked about it, to both their credit.
And even what Izzo said wasn't bad. Just doing typical coach speak where they indirectly stick up for their guy. And it was just one comment after the game.Rashean Mathis: "I'm an egg guy. Last year we didn't have (the omelet station). I didn't complain, but I was dying inside."

Heh heh heh.
Former Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr is among nine coaching candidates for the College Football Hall of Fame.
The National Football Foundation announced today the names of 79 players and nine coaches on the ballot of induction into the Hall.
The late Rob Lytle, Michigan's running back from 1974-1976, is among the Wolverines' three player candidates for the Hall of Fame. Defensive back Don Dufek (1973-1975) and defensive tackle Curtis Greer (1976-1979) also are candidates.
Former Michigan receiver and Heisman Trophy Desmond Howard was inducted into the Hall of Fame last year.
Carr, who recently was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, coached the Wolverines from 1995-2007 and led them to a share of the national championship in 1997. He had a 122-40 (.753) record.
The inductee class will be announced May 11 and the induction is Dec. 6 in New York.I made baseball as fun as doing your taxes!
