Except he will. Louisiana produces more NFL players than the state of Michigan. More good players than LSU can identify and field. Miles will most definitely pull some talent out of there.

Of course LSU will still get the lions share. But there is no question Miles will have inroads there and pull talent. He absolutely will. MSU still gets some Georgia kids from a inroad started back in the John L. Smith days. A big part of recruiting is about connections and relationships. Miles will have many highschool coaches down there still feeding him tips.

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.
Michigan was doing fine recruiting the Midwest and getting the occasional big recruit from outside the region. That formula still works and that formula is more stable. I don't care how much weight you think the Michigan brand carries, that player is less likely to stick around if they aren't starting early. If they are from Michigan or Ohio, they are much more likely to stick around if they are third on the depth chart. One of the most important things a head coach has to do is build depth. You build depth by being able to keep the former high school star that has to sit on the bench and bide his time. And at Michigan you do not have the luxury of recruiting 35 players for 25 spots because of academic reasons, you cannot grayshirt players and you aren't getting jucos. Sure a lot of players want to go to the SEC schools, because a lot of them can get in there, they won't necessarily get into Michigan.
One of the problems Rodriguez had was he recruited much more nationally and some of those guys left when they weren't starting.
Brook wants Les Miles so bad he's willing to disregard reality and fact in order to make his case.
Miles will not bring shit from Louisiana. Maybe one player every blue moon. The rest will go to other SEC schools before they go to Michigan.
That's fact. There's reams of evidence to prove it. Miles will not bring players from SEC country to Michigan. Give it up.
I want Les Miles so bad? I'm an MSU fan.
If John L Smith can use his connections to bring in kids Miles certainly can. "That's fact" nothin. Of course most of the kids in the area will go to SEC schools just like most of the kids in big ten country go to big ten schools. But there are always kids that will go outside the area just to get away from home or check out a new place or what ever. Miles is a big enough name and so is UofM that he will have the national medias attention just as much as Saban does, quite possibly more if he wins as much as Saban does. He would get kids from everywhere and he would get more from the south than others would because of his connections he has right now.

Prior to the Cotton Bowl, Michigan expressed interest in speaking with LSU coach Les Miles and it is expected the meeting will soon occur, sources said.
One source close to Miles said that a time and place has not yet been finalized. Another source said the coach would give LSU 24 hours notification before the interview and that it had not yet occurred.
One person close to Miles said the coach would be very interested in listening to Dave Brandon, the athletic director at his alma mater. Miles has won 62 games in six seasons at LSU including a 2007 national championship.
Prior to the Cotton Bowl, Michigan expressed interest in speaking with LSU coach Les Miles and it is expected the meeting will soon occur, sources said.
Earlier Saturday, LSU athletic director Joe Alleva released a statement saying the school had not spoken with anyone from Michigan.
"I have not been contacted by anyone from the University of Michigan about Les Miles," Alleva said. "Les Miles is LSU's head coach and we are going to do everything we can to keep it that way. He has had great success here and we plan to keep enjoying that success under his leadership."
Miles has more than $18 million guaranteed dollars left on his contract, a source said. If Miles were to leave for Michigan, LSU would be owed $1.25 million, with no buyout for any other school, the source said.
