My guess is they're just throwing out feelers to successful lower division coaches to gauge interest in case all their other contingencies go completely to shit.

Do you have a college degree? A graduate degree, by chance? A thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations? Some coaching experience?
Then you can apply to be the football coach at Michigan. The university, which parted ways with Rich Rodriguez on Wednesday after three seasons, posted the job opening on its website.
