Harbaugh still appears to be a decent possibility. Well, if not here, then somewhere other than Stanford.

Regarding a contract extension at Stanford, Jim said, "I haven't even discussed it". And then when it was brought up that Stanford AD Bob Bowlsby said a few weeks ago that Harbaugh "plans to accept it", Harbaugh responded "well maybe he misspoke".

Going from "plans to accept it (the extension)" to "he misspoke"?

Maybe he still stays at Stanford but IMO that doesn't sound too good for their prospects.

Once Luck declares for the draft it's a nobrainer that Harbaugh will be leaving. Then we can kick DickRod out the door and the table will be set.

the fact Harbaugh hasn't accepted a contract extension is a pretty good sign that he's gone.

Now, about the Harbaugh contract …
Not only has he not signed it, “I haven’t even discussed it,” he told me today.
That comment would seem to contradict what athletic director Bob Bowlsby said three weeks ago — that “Jim has indicated he plans to accept it.”
When I relayed Bowlsby’s comment to Harbaugh, he said:“Maybe he misspoke.”

*** Bowlsby declined to provide any details about the proposed contract when he went public with its existence.
But sources close to the university’s powerbrokers have told me it’s worth approximately $3 million per year and includes substantial amounts of deferred compensation and housing assistance.
It would make Harbaugh the second-highest paid coach in the conference (behind USC’s Lane Kiffin) and is an astounding figure for Stanford, which has never been inclined top pay top dollar in the past.
But as one source said of the administration, “They like having a winning football team, and they like the money that comes with it.”
Welcome to the real world, Stanford.
*** Will the new deal keep Harbaugh on The Farm if Michigan or the NFL comes calling with $4 or 5 million per year while also tugging at his heart (Michigan) and/or competitive fire (the NFL)?
Who knows. But it’s clear that Stanford is doing what it can to try to keep him.

In today's NCAA, $3 million is hardly an offer you can't refuse if you're a high-profile coach. Michigan can beat that easily.

Michigan doesn't pay as much as other schools. Rodriguez makes the most ever, but his assistants are woefully underpaid. Money could be an issue.

Michigan "didn't" pay as much. Brandon remains very much an unknown commodity. Has he already got his new coach signed, sealed and delivered? Is he a Martinesque bumpkin who doesn't understand that nothing is final till it's on the contract? Does he plan to keep RichRod one more year? We don't know and can't accurately guess, because we don't know Brandon.
