In nods to its heritage and historic roots, Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany announced Monday that his conference would name its two new football divisions the "Legends" and "Leaders."
"We looked to our own history and future for names that would resonate," Delany said while making the announcement on the Big Ten Network.
Given that geography played only a small role in creating the two divisions, Delany said the normal geographical names "went out the window" as possibilities.
The Legends division includes Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern.
The Leaders division includes Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin.
In unveiling a new Big Ten logo, Delany said the logo and naming process unfolded over the past three months and that the conference went through seven or eight iterations of a new design.I made baseball as fun as doing your taxes!Comment
