Lloyd Carr never gave a scholarship to a kicker at any point during his tenure (iirc), and even then he was able to find someone every year who could hit from inside 40 yards. I don't know how Rodriguez can't.

We were discussing this during the so-called "game". I remember one year Bo did not have a kicker who could kick a field goal; they were something like 2 of 18. I believe they tried Haji Sheikh on long kicks and he was 0 for 7. I'd have to look it up. It didn't make a lot of difference because Michigan was beating people 56-7 and all.

You don't recall correctly. Bryan Wright is just one example of a Kicker Carr gave a scholarship to. Mesko is another.
