If I were a betting man, I'd say Rodriguez is going to be given more time. Greg Robinson, however, is a goner. People look at the offense and think it shouldn't be retooled, but I have serious doubts that RichRod will be able to do something he's never done - field a really good defense. I wish Dave Brandon would have a long talk with Chris Spielman. What he said in the Detroit News was spot on.

Greg Robinson was clearly retaliating a couple weeks ago in the media. A number of articles popped up blaming the poor D on Rich Rod's insistence on the 3-3-5 and other decisions; this was right after Rodriguez said at his press conference that he doesn't pay much attention to the way the defense is run. If he gets shitcanned and Rich doesn't, I doubt Greg will stay quiet for very long.I made baseball as fun as doing your taxes!

It looked like a done deal at the time.
Brandon seems like he likes RR, but who really knows? He's not going to show his cards now. I really would like to see Harbaugh, but rumors about his lifestyle have been brought up on Michigan boards, kind of things that stopped Miles from being brought in.

Sometimes?
That petty shit has been going on for the last three years!
If you want to believe a new AD has resolved all that bad blood and infighting instantly, okay. Then yes, you'd be correct to think that they would all fall in line, at least for the moment.
I'm not entirely sold on that.

Alumni aren't supposed to say that Michigan is no better than anyone else. Michigan is the shining example for all to follow. If you speak against that, you may as well be dead to them.
Michigan; Greatest and the Best in all things. Woe be unto you if you even imply otherwise.
Hell, I remember when Harbaugh made his comments; you'd think he had slandered the administration's mothers from the way they threw a fit. If you think they have forgiven him for that... okay... but I doubt it.

Anyway, they would be foolish to dismiss Harbaugh if he wanted the job. Their last coaching search was a debacle. Dismissing probably the most attractive candidate is extremely foolish.
But if there is petty divisions with the department it definitely can prevent it. It wouldn't be the first place to have it, MSU had that crap since Biggie Munn hired Duffy Daugherty and it plagued the department until the hiring of Dantonio. Everyone finally got on the same page.
But it really took a bottoming out of the program, Michigan really hasn't really bottomed out to unite fractures. You have to really have a string of bad coaches for everyone to STFU and swallow the pride. If you fire Rodriguez now, I think it might be too early.

I believe I heard that Scott Shafer wasn't allowed to speak after he was fired. The only thing he said was a sarcastic "Yes, I am responsible for all the defensive problems at Michigan." Greg Robinson will go quietly, knowing that he made a few more dollars before retiring. Pity, seems like a good man.Last edited by Rocky Bleier; November 23, 2010, 06:21 PM.I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.

The "inside information" I've heard was that he forces the 3-3-5 scheme on the DCs because some of the assistants can't teach anything else.
RR has said a couple times in the past 2 weeks on his TV show that the defense is now really a 3-4
