It doesn't matter if my birdies are right.
If Rodriguez wins, he's going to stay.
If he loses, he's outta here.
If he goes 9-3, it better damn well be good enough for you Wolverines fans. After all, it was good enough for Lloyd Carr, right?
Or would it not be good enough because his name isn't Les Miles?

First off chem.. 9-3 is a great record but you better be beating ND, MSU and OSU in some of those wins. Carr won a national championship and was close in going to another had the aholes in columbus not had something to say about it.
with all that said Rich Rod aint going 9-3. Not gonna happen.F#*K OHIO!!!

I have mixed feelings, but I do believe that given a little more time he could really be successful. I like a lot of the players he's brought in. I like their attitude and willingness to work hard. They've come despite the all the negative recruiting and bad press. My biggest concern is the lack of recruits at certain position on defense. Bring in Harbaugh and it's a complete roster changeover again. I think Brandon's going to stick with him.
I've been a Michigan fan since 1969. During that time I saw a hell of a lot of winning. Michigan fans who whine about the last two seasons strike me as spoiled babies. Try being a Michigan State fan. MSU fans have long been accused of having an inferiority complex, but they stuck by their team decade after decade, ever hopeful. All of this angst from Michigan fans over two losing seasons is delicious schadenfreud for the Spartan faithful.Last edited by Rocky Bleier; July 29, 2010, 12:21 PM.I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.

I think that a large percentage of Michigan fans got in their heads that they were going to hate any coach whose name wasn't Les Miles.
Let's conveniently forget that it was their conquering underachiever Lloyd Carr who sabotaged the negotiations with Miles. Guess who told Herbstreit that Miles had accepted the position the day before his team was playing in the SEC Championship, and thus pretty much ensuring he couldn't possibly accept it? It was your buddy, the honorable and upright Lloyd Carr.
The same man who threw a hissy fit when Bill Martin told him that 1) No, you're not going to choose your successor, and 2) It's not going to be your underachieving coordinator Ron English.
This same man has promptly led what amounts to a guerrilla warfare campaign against Rodriguez to sabotage his efforts, because Carr was (and probably is) still butthurt over the Wolverines not wanting to hire that mediocre Prevent-A-Win Defense master English.
All that drama over the practice issue? Wanna know who Rosenberg's informant was? Yep, it good ol' honest and noble Lloyd Carr. Rather than try and address the issue in house (you know, to protect the administration and school that he had "selflessly" and "honorably" worked for), he went right to his #1 butt leech at the Detroit Free Press.
Carr has made it as hard as he possibly can for Rodriguez to win in Ann Arbor and has been a general pain in the ass for the last year and a half because he's pissy that winning with Gary Moeller's players didn't earn him the right to be the next Bo. Is that the sort of coaching tree you honestly want to dip into?

I don't give a shit about Miles at this point or Carr. I just don't really like RR, wasn't a big fan of the hire and don't enjoy watching UM run his goofy offense and just get destroyed on defense.
I'm sure, if given enough time, RR will win to the level of Carr (9-3, 10-2), though maybe not always as consistently. Will him consistently winning change my mind about him? Unless he starts knocking Big Ten titles and BCS title game appearances, probably not.

What I want to see out of the Wolverines is a killer instinct. When they have the opportunity to take control of a game (no matter when it is), they take it. That was my biggest criticism of Lloyd Carr. His philosophy basically boiled the game down to the fourth quarter, and left opportunities to put an opponent away on the field repeatedly.
I have no idea if Rodriguez does... the current Wolverines haven't had too many opportunities to do it. But hopefully, at least the silly infighting is over with and we can see. That entire episode (pretty much spearheaded by the noble and decent man Lloyd Carr) was a disgrace.
