  • Maybe you are right Rock. But there were those guys then too. But Bo always preached the team the team the team, and would not stand for anyone putting themselves above the team.

I don't know enough about Bo's recruiting to know if he was generally outrecruited by other big time programs because of it though.

I agree with you on the punt returns, but I don't know why these kids can't catch the damn ball.
I know. We need to return back to those (read:better) days. There was so much more class back then.

I mean, nowadays you might see a coach take a swing at an opposing player or something.

      ...

      What?

I don't know how old you are, but I was around back then and it was much better. People in general were much better. Say what you want, but I've lived it.

        • I know.

Woody Hayes simply emulated class and charm, amirite? Wanna know a secret? For every cuss word that people can prove he uttered, and swing at young men on the football field he took, there were a hundred other incidents that he and everyone else in college football did that were conveniently brushed under the rug, overlooked, or otherwise forgiven.

Had the 1960's and 70's had the media reporting and outlets of today, they would look just as bad.

People in general were just as good and just as bad 30 years ago, 300 years ago, 3000 years ago, and will just as good and just as bad 30, 300, and 3000 years from now.

The only thing that has significantly changed over the period of our collective consciousness is how easily the warts of society are discovered and brought before the public eye.

Claiming it was any better or any worse is just wistful reminisce; a romanticizing of the past.

          • perhaps brushing it under the rug, and acting a little classy in public WAS the better thing Chemi.

              Perhaps so.

But that also created the environment of entitlement that today's figures are exploiting for all its worth. If someone is always going to look the other way when you do something stupid... why should you care?

              • Everyone didn't always look the other way. It was however understood it was none of your business.

                • LOS ANGELES -- Embattled Southern California athletic director Mike Garrett will be replaced by Pat Haden next month, and the school will return its copy of Reggie Bush's Heisman Trophy in its ongoing effort to repair its reputation after last month's severe NCAA sanctions.

                  • Pat Haden? Ha! Isn't he doing notre dame football?

                    • LOL! post off on the ND board..

If they hire Matt Millen, I'll go find another team. He'd be the ultimate kiss of death.

                        • On paper they may look like cream puffs, but teams like Bowling Green and UConn are going to give Michigan problems. I have trouble seeing more than 5 wins.

                          • One can only hope chemiclord's birdies are wrong. The Big Ten will rue the day that Rich Rod is in total control of the Michigan program.

                            • As much as I hate watching them lose, the thought of them winning and RR sticking around is even worse. I'd endure another 3-9 season (or worse) if it meant he'd be shown the door.
