Anyone else watch "The Bear"? The second season just dropped (on Hulu). The lead is Jeremy Allen White, the guy from Shameless who played Lip. Anyway, it's probably not everyone's cup of tea but the premise is: "A young chef from the world of fine dining comes home to Chicago to run his family's Italian beef sandwich shop after the suicide of his older brother, who left behind debts, a rundown kitchen, and an unruly staff."

I like the lead a lot, even though he has a strange way of making me wish I still smoked cigarettes. The characters are deeply flawed but funny. The restaurant stuff is interesting and kind of inspiring for wannabe cooks like us.

They are half hour episodes so it's an easy binge.

Yes! I watched the first season with my daughter when she was home for Christmas. She was working as a server at a fine-dining restaurant in NYC at the time so she was able to provide insight into the restaurant world. We really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to watching the second season.

Just finished "BEEF" It was really good. It is set in an Asian community that starts with road rage. It just has all kinds of Dramedy. I really enjoyed it.

Watched the first episode and I can tell that I’m already going to love it. This type of show really hits home with me. My entire life after the military and college was working in the IT industry. I started a company contracting for our military bases and gov’t institutions on this side of the world mainly in Europe and forward operating areas. I stepped back from the hands on Engineering side and took more of a program management role as I disliked leaving my family for such long stretches (6 months at a time).

After I pulled back I started getting bored and needed something to do. I was out having drinks with some of my friends and one of them mentioned that i should get a no nonsense kind of job to pass the time. He said you’re American go flip some burgers or something.

In the US you can open your front door, throw a rock and hit a good burger joint. Outside of the US finding a great burger is few and far in between. I went the next Monday and bought a legit Five Guys type grill at the local catering shop and started experimenting at my house

I have ZERO restaurant experience and four years later we have the highest rated restaurant in this part of the country. Weekly we get people asking to franchise and we’ve had multiple offers to sell to large companies. It’s been so much more work than I ever could have imagined and I’ve loved every bit of it.

Just finished episode 7 of season two. It’s been a little disjointed, but also really good

We just hit Episode 6 -- some nice casting for the Berzatto family!

We started making smash burgers on our new flat top attachment for our grill and OMG they are divine. It has ruined our interest in getting a burger elsewhere.

yes they’re smash burgers. The meat we source here is all grass fed free range. And I’m not talking about what’s posted in the super markets as grass fed. When you look at the fat in our patties it’s yellow as the beta carotene from the grass dyes the fat in the cows.

When i first saw it I instantly said no because I didn’t know why it looked like that. As soon as I tasted it you can 100% see the difference

It’s not surprising that you only want to make them at home, you can do it better than anyone can. Controlling the quality is where it’s at.

Honestly my other business runs itself. I keep all my US funds stateside and we’re 100% living off of the restaurant here. We’ve opened a second location and several more are coming soon. It’s been so much more work than I ever could have imagined but it really has paid off
