I'm sure it is one sided. By the 4th episode I found myself in complete shock and pissed off. True enough that any documentary can vilify one side and make heroes / victims out of the other but the fact remains the dude spent 18 years in jail for a crime he didn't commit.
That's a straight up fact.
After that is when things get touchy and could go either way but the documentary brings up raw footage of confessions and things the justice department was doing that is complete bullshit.F#*K OHIO!!!

I do not approve of wrongly convicting and jailing someone for something they didn't do. Knowing his actions both previous to his original incarceration and after it. But this isn't a good person and while again I don't approve of the original incarceration. It may have saved some lives, or just postponed his even one and done murder 18 years.
This is A why I don't like riled up documentaries. They are way too one sided. B there is a lot of ground to clean up the justice system of these types of cases. This is not the case to make that on. Much like the police shootings, a legitimate issue, very legitimate, but too many times it seems like 2/3rds of the cases that everyone gets riled about cases where the police did have a legitimate reason to shoot and the people shot were potentially dangerous with histories of violence or crime. Where are the Riots for the AA business man that is gunned downed when grabbing his wallet at the polices request because he notified the cop that he was legally carrying. With his wife sitting right next to him forced to stay in the car watching her husband die, till he was dead.
Sorry for the minor rant. Point being that from what I have read the show ignores any of the character issues and actual damning evidence of his crime. Instead it focuses on all the screwed up things the cops did during this case and the previous. If they really wanted to have these actions analyzed they should have used a case where the guy wasn't actually guilty. It's hard maybe a little to hard to get worked up about the injustices of getting found guilty for a crime he committed.

He can be the biggest piece of shit alive but the fact remains that he had 18 years of his life taken away because the police didn't do their jobs.
Our justice system is built on being innocent until proven guilty and our people will get a fair trial no matter who they are. This person never had a fair trial instead was persecuted through the media by the DA before the trial then everything shows a corrupt system of cops planting evidence while doing everything in their power to throw the book at someone.
If this was a normal person I'd think it sounded retarded but take into consideration that he was in the middle of a lawsuit with the city that could bankrupt the entire town because of their actions. I'm sorry but this is one of the worst forms of conflict of interest and abuse of power and its garbage.
You say that this isn't the person to have a doc about and I say its exactly the person to have one on. Is he Ward Cleaver? Nope but it doesn't matter because he has the same rights as WardF#*K OHIO!!!

Sure there is a conflict of interest. Sure the police did a bunch of stuff they shouldn't have. Though supposedly the doc tries to say the most damning evidence was tampered with (bullet) was event handled by the people they suggest did do it. It was handled by another districts department where there shouldn't have been a conflict of interest. But the doc loses all its validity and usefulness if it main statement is that he innocent if he is in fact guilty.
I am not saying that his previous case and Some actions in this one aren't travesties they are. But am I really willing to get worked up over a creepy stalker, women abusing, murderer, just because the cops didn't play fair. If it could have saved this last women's life I'd have rather he continued to rot away in jail on a trumped up charge.

It was good. I don't think it's as great as some people think... I had HUGE expectations for this Series because of the reviews and what some people were saying.
While the 80s nostalgia, style, and SyFy/ horror theme was fun... it was too "by the book" IMO.
Winona Ryder's character and acting was questionable... very one dimensional character and her voice was too annoying.
7/10 - ish.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill
