Yea, compared to Matt and Woody, it would be almost impossible to equal that cast in season 1.
I had a chance to rewatch Episode 1 (Season 2) of TD. I REALLY like Season 2 now. It was just a little confusing the first time around.
I find it interesting that they work on character development right away and avoid much plot until the last couple minutes of the episode.

Colin Ferrell is the star... And I feel weird about saying that because I only have liked Ferrell as a supporting actor in "The Minority Report."

He was the worst of the 4 main actors, no doubt. Still, I didn't mind his part. That motorcycle scene was decent.

      • Yeah, much of the reason why I liked the first season was just to watch Matthew McConaughey become that character. I thought he was incredible.

I'm guessing Colin Farrell might be similar in that regard.

As for Taylor Kitsch: He's there for me. Just me. Don't ask questions.

            • The city of Vinci in Season 2 is based on the city of Vernon, CA. I happen to work in Vernon and during episode 2 I remember thinking "that are looks familiar..." They apparently filmed some of the exterior shots for Vinci (those scenes illustrating the industrial feel to the city). I work in Vernon and I'm sure I drive through some of those areas en route to my job.

                • Meh, I was pretty bummed about Kitsch, but he is holding his own right now.

At least when contrasted with Vaughn's gangster-turned-land entrepreneur-who-shifts-in-and-out-of-high-tongue.

                    • I think sometimes people confuse a character's initial stasis with wooden acting.

The dude is playing a latent homosexual PTSD stricken war vet highway patrol cop. Like, how many ways can they tackle that in the first three episodes without it seeming ragingly obtuse.

I like this season, too. The observer, the masked, the observer, the masked.

                            • It will be good. I think there are going to be quite a few back peddlers by the time the season concludes. So much hate for not very good reasons.

I think people forget that Season 1 was mostly context until episode four and then it really took off.

I love Shawshank redemption by the way -- But yea, there is no way they'd be that obtuse.
