  • Should I start watching "True Detective?" Like how good is it lol?

I saw that Matthew McConaghey is in it, which could make it excellent considering McConaghey has become an amazing actor recently.
Also I saw that Aubrey Plaza and Taylor Swift would be in the next season... and its rating on IMDB is as high as "Game of Thrones" and just below "Breaking Bad." I don't want to miss a show (like Breaking Bad) and have to catch up on it just as the show ends.

I just finished seasons 1-4 of "Dexter" and I will probably stop there. I've heard seasons 5-8 are not so good... and if I just stop watching, I will remember it as one of my favorite shows ever because seasons 1,2,and 4 were amazing. The Walking Dead season 4 is over. Game of Thrones season 4 is starting, so I guess there is that.

          • I saw the first episode of "True Detective." It was really good.
Idk what McConaghey has been doing of late, but he has transformed into the best actor in the world as of right now. Dallas Buyers Club, The Wolf of Wall Street (McConaghey was great in his short role), and True Detective.

Can't wait to see Interstellar because that combines my favorite direct (Nolan) with McConaghey who is in the prime of his life at acting.

            • I agree completely (about McConaughey). He's just killing it.

Tony, the first season just ended. I don't think there is an official plan for a second season yet, but it is likely since the show had so much success this year. However, McConaughey and Harrelson won't return.

The reason I had interest in watching "True Detective" was because I saw this:
Taylor Swift, Aubrey Plaza to star in ‘True Detective’ next season

Which is kind of strange lol because I don't get how you could go from such great actors (McConaughey and Woody) to Plaza and Swift.
I haven't seen Swift act in anything so maybe I am wrong... and I've seen most episodes of Parks and Rec (with Plaza). Just seems weird to go from the greatest actors to questionable actors for a great TV show.

Idk we'll see. I had the same thought about Heath Ledger... "Batman Begins" had Liam as their bad guy (Great actor). "The Dark Knight" had Ledger as the bad guy, who at the time wasn't that great of an actor in my opinion. Then Ledger has one of the greatest performances I've ever seen as the Joker.

                      • Just finished "True Detective." It was an incredible season.
The best acting I've ever seen in a TV series... but that isn't really surprising when you have McConaughey in his prime and Woody.
Best TV series? I think that will be hard to accomplish when Woody and McConaughey don't return (assuming that happens).
Breaking Bad still #1. McConaughey = the best actor right now.
I just wish I was watching it early in the year as each episode was released (one week per episode) instead of watching all 10 episodes in a couple of days.

My top 5 favorite drama TV series of all time (remember, I'm young):

                        1. Breaking Bad
                        2. Game of Thrones
                        3. True Detective
                        4. Dexter
                        5. LOST

                        Goodbye The Walking Dead

                              • I'll prob watch it. This girl at work wants me to finish watching Dexter (I only watched seasons 1-4 because I heard it goes downhill from then)... but I don't want to haha.
Outside of that, I need to finish "The Office." I have watched seasons 1-6 like 3 times but keep stopping there every time for whatever reason haha.

No other TV stuff going on for me at the moment excluding Game of Thrones.. so yea, I'll start The Wire. I was like 9 or 10 years old when that series started, that I why I never watched it before.
