I feel you, Deb. I tend to avoid shows that have multiple seasons for the same reason. I may try to watch Succession, though.

It’s probably a better idea to wait until a TV series is over before investing time in it. Then you have all the information available to determine if it’s worth the time. Plus you don’t have to wait years for the next season to drop. With some exceptions…

For me, it’s been great watching old series like “The Sopranos”, “Rome”, etc. Pretty obvious that it would be worth the time.

I’m weird with an anti-binge rule anyways. One episode per day at max for any TV series. Spread the enjoyment for an extended time period. With “Breaking Bad” being the one TV series that I couldn’t help myself with and had to binge it…

These premium shows don’t have long seasons though, talking 8 maybe 10 episodes max. It’s not like back in the day when you’d get 20 episodes a season.

It’s a really good show. Crazy funny. It took me about 3-4 episodes for it to click, but it’s worth watching for sure. Elite acting and writing. Sort of a superior Entourage. You’re there for the ride. Plot is ok, so I’m glad this is the final season.

Jeremy Strong may be the best actor alive, outside of Daniel Day Lewis.

Has Jeremy Strong stood out in any other acting role outside of “Succession?” Vaguely remember him in “The Big Short”, but this might be a situation where an actor/ actress is unworldly in one TV series role. Not much else or little to compare to it. Such as James Gandolfini in “The Sopranos”, Rhea Seehorn in “Better Call Saul”, Peter Dinklage in “Game of Thrones”, etc.

Strong is really good in Succession but saying he's on the level of Daniel Day Lewis is a stretch for me. DDL is one of the most underrated and best actors that I've seen in my lifetime.

My take is because if you did a poll of the average person you'd get answers like Leo, Denzel, Tom Hanks etc. All of those are phenomenal actors but Lewis to me is another level that pushes beyond those mainstream movies. DDL in the Gangs of New York and There Will Be Blood is special.

It depends on how you look at acting in general. What Leo and Tom Hanks especially have done over DDL, specially Tom is show better range. I mean even to this day there might not be a better comedic actor than Tom Hanks and he hasn't been in a straight up comedy in what seems like 30 years. Lewis is an extreme professional, who acts like he would like to do anything other than acting. That allows him to be extremely picky about his roles, which he only goes for extremely dramatic roles that he feels he can entrap himself in. Kind of like Denzel before he got his award all he would do was award bait roles, then we got a decade of lighter campier roles for him (or doing 2 John Wick type roles before John Wick came out). There is also a degree of quantity, if your roles are 10-12 movies over the course of 15 years for Leo (Gangs of New York to Aviator) that are maybe a step below DDL, but you are banging them out consistently. Or 20 years for Tom Hanks that goes from roughly DDL like to maybe a step below (I would challenge that Forest Gump or Andy from Philadelphia are DDL level acting jobs). Not the like 10 DDL has like total.

I guess I would put it this way. I am a director and this is my passion project and I want everything perfect. I want DDL in the lead spot. But if I was trying to pick the GOAT, I'd go Hanks. The dude is the Jerry Rice of actors, DDL is like the Randy Moss of actors.
