They broke ground on our future house today. First step is reinforcing the soil in case of earthquakes. That should be done this week and then they'll lay the foundation next week or the week after. The estimated finish date is the end of February.

Awesome. Make sure you build a lions themed man cave with enough bedding for 12 when we all get those free flights to japan and need a place to stay.

Stee, my in-laws grow chrysanthemums, and they have a rice field as well. I don't think I've bought rice since I got married.

I'm not sure what the name of those hills are, Marko. On a clear day, you can see the mountain across the bay in Nagasaki. It's pretty cool in January when it's covered in snow.

We don't really get many earthquakes down here (knock on wood). I think it's just a building code they have in Japan. Even the contractor says it's overkill, but what can you do?
