This just made my (family) day:
Our tax preparer just called to tell me that she miscalculated her initial quickly done in office income tax numbers that showed we were going to owe close to $4K for 2009.
I just assumed since this was the most we ever earned, it was a new tax bracket we breached and was just going to have to learn the hard way to better adjust our extra weekly payroll deductions.
Fortunately, while she was completing our actual returns today, she realized she errored some and our actual tax liability for 2009 is about $850.
We just saved over $3,100.
Talk about sweet!19.1119, NO LONGER WAITING

....you really need to find deductions or share your money for tax deductions. I know a 501C that you can contribute to..;-)

Even if you are getting that large of a tax return for the first 2 reasons I listed, you should have adjusted your payroll deductions to zero (0) for both you and your spouse to keep more of your payroll income as soon as those large purchases were made for the rest of 2009.
Either way, I'm glad for you that it wasn't an 8K bill.Last edited by Panoptes; March 16, 2010, 09:39 PM.19.1119, NO LONGER WAITING

my withholding is all screwed up. Our tax bill is going to be more than 40K I think when all is said and done.
You need to find a good accountant that can help you invest in some shelters.
......speaking of shelters, my house needs a bit of work, want to donate?I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.
