Please support the Forum by using the Amazon Link this Holiday Season
Amazon has started their Black Friday sales and there are some great deals to be had! As you shop this holiday season, please consider using the forum's Amazon.com link (listed in the menu as "Amazon Link") to add items to your cart and purchase them. The forum gets a small commission from every item sold.
Additionally, the forum gets a "bounty" for various offers at Amazon.com. For instance, if you sign up for a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, the forum will earn $3. Same if you buy a Prime membership for someone else as a gift! Trying out or purchasing an Audible membership will earn the forum a few bucks. And creating an Amazon Business account will send a $15 commission our way.
If you have an Amazon Echo, you need a free trial of Amazon Music!! We will earn $3 and it's free to you!
Your personal information is completely private, I only get a list of items that were ordered/shipped via the link, no names or locations or anything. This does not cost you anything extra and it helps offset the operating costs of this forum, which include our hosting fees and the yearly registration and licensing fees.
Stay safe and well and thank you for your participation in the Forum and for your support!! --Deborah

LOL Yoop!
and thanks for the advice, too - that is precisely why I chose to go the bank route - prospective clients are a LOT easier to come by. Also, most brokerage firms don't want to deal with anyone with less than $250k in investable assets which has always rubbed me the wrong way. I am more than happy to help the little guy - they need sound financial advice too"I ain't the type to bitch, I ain't the type to cry, I will sit at your red light and wait for your shit to go by."

Speaking of prospective clients, do your client all need to be local, or can those you know from say...a lions forum...also use your services?
A guy I know from law school is becoming a "personal wealth advisor" for goldman here in Seattle. They require 10M in investible assets. That blew my mind.To be a professional means that you don't die. - Takeru "the Tsunami" Kobayashi

heh - I like the way you think! ;) I have to be licensed in each state where a prospective client resides, which is a pretty simple process. I had already asked them about out of state clients and they were definitely open to it, but we didn't really get into the details just yet."I ain't the type to bitch, I ain't the type to cry, I will sit at your red light and wait for your shit to go by."

I get to drive into Tropical Storm Hanna tomorrow to deliver a wish to a Make A Wish child, after which I'll be able to proclaim.... "I drove through a tropical storm to make a wish happen!""And I'm a million different people from one day to the next..."

Can't you wait a few days? That sounds dangerous to me. I've never been near a Tropical storm, but they still scare the crap out of me."And I'm a million different people from one day to the next..."

It would save me about 15 miles going into unknown territory.
My unsolicited advice. Bring a chain saw and put the top up if you're driving a convertible. Bring a lot to drink in case you get stranded. Beer works for me.
