I used to babysit for the eldest before they moved but he was too young to remember me. We only get to see them when they come into town for weddings or holidays or we go to visit them (which we do at least once a year). Other than that we occasionally skype but skyping is not a valued form of communication when trying to carry on with toddlers and pre-schoolers.
Son got a promotion so he is moving from North of Huston to South of Dallas. They sold their house last month and recently purchased a new one. The owners of their new house wanted 30 days before having to vacate so, since there was about 3 weeks between having to move out, and getting into their new house, his wife and the kids came back to Michigan to live with her mom.
They came over last night to celebrate the youngests 3rd birthday and it was the most memorable visit for both me and the kids.
They miss their Dad. He is a get on the ground and wrestle with you type of Dad. He does a lot of that with the boys. When they came into the house yesterday, the eldest ran right up to me for a hug and a kiss (as I assume he remembers our most recent trip to visit and our daily walks to the park). The youngest was a bit shy and put offish.
I popped the DVD Planes into the tube to give the kids something they were familiar with to watch and to try to be an icebreaker conversation wise.
Within minutes of popping in the DVD, the youngest jumps up on the couch and walks over to me and plops himself in my lap to watch. Soon after, he decided he wanted to wrestle around. We spent a couple of hours taking turns wrestling with Pops (that's what I am called by my grandkids) and had a blast.
Mom says, wow, they really do need to have a guy in their lives, don't they? I said yup, boys love to wrestle and especially with someone who knows what their limitations are and how to wrestle with them.
We had an outstanding visit that prompted another one on Sunday before they head to their new home in the Dallas area.
Today is a very good day!GO LIONS "24" !!

actually not so rehearsed.
Julie Ryan, the mother of the groom, told KHOU in Houston that she came up with the idea for the dance a month ago after seeing a video of another mother-son wedding dance. And her son, Wesley, was up for it. Since Ryan lives in Houston and her son lives in Austin, he choreographed the dance and the two spent just 30 minutes practicing in the hotel before the wedding.Last edited by Tony G; May 30, 2014, 06:05 PM.Benny Blades~"If you break down this team man for man, we have talent to compare with any team."

Just finished booking an 8 day vacation in Orlando for Christmas this year. We were looking at an 8 day eastern carribean cruise but the reviews on the one and only cruise that fit the ports we wanted to see was on a specific cruise ship that had some horrible reviews (Holland ms Noordam). Plus, read while in the middle of all my planning that there is this seriously bad virus going around the Caribbean islands that scared my wife right out of the idea even though it was a dream cruise of hers.
So we went with staying in Orlando with 5 day WDW park hopper passes and the entire southern half of the state on our docket.
Looking forward to seeing my kid see Mickey Rat at Christmas over there and seeing my wife enjoying the white sand beaches over the holidays.Last edited by Panoptes; June 3, 2014, 10:22 AM.19.1119, NO LONGER WAITING

Certainly does sound like a great holiday, Panoptes. Can we look forward some Florida Xmas snaps in the family thread? Ask that Mickey Rat guy to put on a Maiden "Trooper" T, and get a picture together.
That name Mickey Rat, makes me think of my oldest son when he was about 4 or 5 years old. He said, "Actually dad, it's NOT Donald Duck. It's Donald Mallard." He was learning about birds and things at nursery.
Youngest son Scotty flies off to Florida this coming Friday with girlfriend and her parents. He's buzzing for it."...when Hibernian won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

.......and ya, earlier this year, several cruise ships had to undergo scrubdowns because of a breakout on board. I believe one of the ships (I think owned by Carnival) had to be docked twice.
We really enjoyed our Disney cruise and stop at Castaway Cay. Nassau, not so much.
You might also want to consider a meal plan. They sound expensive to start with but I can tell you from experience, you will save a ton of money and the options are wonderful!I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

I nixed that idea early on. There was no way I was going to be trapped on board with Disney in every direction. At least this way we can come and go from the scene (just like we do out here with the park).
Kitchenette in our villa will make eating a breeze and save a bundle.19.1119, NO LONGER WAITING
