Just bought 4 tickets to go see Marillion tribute band, "StillMarillion" playing the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh, June 26th. Like a teenager again here. Nearly peed myself with excitement when the confirmation email arrived. Cannot wait!
"...when Hibernian won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”
Haha! It is actually next door to the old Guildford Arms, a place me and the buddies used to go to back in the early 90's. Saw the StillMarillion ad on a prog rock emailing list and thought, "Where the F is the Voodoo rooms?" Delighted that it's there. Might even head in there for a few beers pre-gig, for old times sake. For anyone who has been to Edinburgh, (SLF, Kck Sum) this is at the East end of Princes Street, right behind the Wellington Statue.

Don't know where the music thread is but I was volunteering for Habitat today and the driver noticed an old van and said it was really cool. I started singing this song. He loved it...................................

Hey DanO, did you get someone to squeeze your shaved balls so you could hit the high notes?

My daughter qualified for the county meet in shot put on her last throw of the season. Prior to today's meet her personal record was 23'6. The qualifying distance was 31 feet. She threw it 31'1", I was shocked. We were working on it all week and by my unofficial measurements she was getting up to 28 feet. But I don't have one of those big tape measures so it could have been more. And in practices you might throw one 28 feet and a bunch 26 feet. The adrenaline must have been pumping threw her veins or something.
She placed second today to the girl from Oak Park who threw nearly 40 feet, she'll win the county meet easily. That girl showed up in jeans, changed into sweats and used the most basic power throw with one warmup. She was a big girl, when she warmed up, my daughter asked me if she was the coach.

So that made my day.
Nice!
I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
That is excellent, Froot Loops. If the other girl is guaranteed the win at the Country Meet, will your daughter need to reproduce more 31' throws or maybe further to have a chance of 2nd or 3rd?
