Went to a big insurance co. 100th anniversary party at Santa Anita racetrack for business/entertainment on Friday. Took a $100, came home with $560. I hit on $24 superfecta that paid $550.50 plus $10 straight up on the winner. Free Club house passes, food, open bar and handicappers on hand to assist on a perfectly spectacular weather day at the track.
I was ready to quit my job to become a handicapper. ;)
Now that is a good day at the track!
Love Santa Anita, been a couple of times while at Anaheim for conferences.
Has not quite made my day yet, but I am now in the week of my finals. Then a 2 week break and start back up on April 7th. If all goes good, I should be done Wednesday night or sometime on Thursday. The first final I already took last night and I aced that one with a 100%. Will take another one as soon as I post this.
Also, my dads birthday is coming up 3 days after school, and thought what do I buy him this year; he already has everything. One day he was over and saw all of the pictures that I had taken of the farm before he sold it, and now the house is no longer there, as the other people tore it down. He had made a comment that he did not know that I had all of these pictures. The brain had then come up with the idea of making him his birthday present this year.....a scrapbook of the 67 years at the farm. Now mind you, my grandpa or great-grandpa had built that house, so there are a lot of memories there. So, off I go trying to find all of the things that I need to put this book together, and time to go in my photo albums to find all of these photos that I will need. I have everything sitting in my study right now, just waiting to get worked on. I may only have a couple of days to do this, but he already knows he may have to wait an extra week for it. Should turn out pretty good.

Not sure if I am happy about this or not. I thought I taught my children to make better decisions in life. This is my oldest on a recent visit to Thailand.

Until this cancer business started, I was going to quit my job to become a male stripper at an all women's nursing home, but when I found out that I would only get paid with knitted scarves, socks, and cases of Jello, I changed my mind.
Maybe I will just send you my money to take to the track.

---------------------------NICE!!!!
I have an interesting story about my first time at the track. I have a friend who was/is big into horse racing and some betting. He wanted me to go with him to the local race track, where they ran horses. It's actually pretty close to Malto's house. I concurred but had never been to horse racing before in my life and knew nothing about it. We went to an informational sit in on all the races and the horses running for each race that day. When it was over I had concluded I wanted these three horses for the first race...........one, two, three. My friend suggested I "box" them and explained what that meant. I took his suggestion and did so. The horses came in exactly as I had stated(pure luck) and I won money because I had them boxed. Had I not boxed them I would have won $700.00 more. LOL. I still don't let him forget that.
