"We give so much money to other countries and yet we're robbing our own kids of a quality of life."
------------------------------------------This is what bugs the shit out of me. How about we take care of our own problems here first, and then look outside our borders. NOPE, let's spend billions in foreign aid and ignore our own problems. Then let's raise taxes because we don't have enough money to fix our problems.

I have a comment but, will not post it because it is political in nature and does not belong here.
.......but, about our leadership and policy.........
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.
I'm not really into celebrity stuff.....but my cousin laura is the girl who went to the Oscars with Jennifer Lawrence. She wrote some sort of article about her experiance and she's getting some press from it (both good and bad it seems). I'm happy for her.
A sortie is an excursion from a home base and back in the same day. In other words, we left Cali, went to Vegas for the day, and returned late in the evening. There was no layover.
"Wow. I'm amazed that your parents let you go on a month long trip with a relative stranger. Different time and different place. Sounds like a great trip though."
--------------------------------He wasn't a stranger. He was well respected at the time. I was 18(lehgally) capable of making my own decisions. I was going with two friends. This is back in the 70's. Things are different now.
yeah dano..we all know how well that;s been working for you
Something that always makes my day.....coaching little league, it never gets old. There is never a time when I come home from practicing or a game when I think "that sucked".
Liam has a few more years before I'll let him in a super series league and I'm thinking I'm going to continue coaching in some way after he's done. Maybe it's the teacher in me.

This means you have good parents.
When coaching youth leagues, sometimes parents are trying to establish that their kid is the next astounding player to ever be seen. The verbal abuse can be a problem when you are giving every player a chance to play.
......and I come up from a generation that little league left scars on me.

I've been lucky with parents. A prick or two here and there.
Living here in AZ club ball is such a huge thing that it weeds most of the ultra competitive dads. They pay the $300 a month to put there kids in the "better" leagues....a lot of the time there is not a major competitive difference IMO, maybe a kid or two, but the club leagues out here try to make out like its a pipeline to the majors. It's not.

I hear ya.
The problem can be, however. If the league is trying to make parents think they are a pipeline to the majors, there will be a problem with expectations.
Only one team is going to win it all and every team is thinking they paid the right to.
..........just saying, as a coach.

Went to a big insurance co. 100th anniversary party at Santa Anita racetrack for business/entertainment on Friday. Took a $100, came home with $560. I hit on $24 superfecta that paid $550.50 plus $10 straight up on the winner. Free Club house passes, food, open bar and handicappers on hand to assist on a perfectly spectacular weather day at the track.
I was ready to quit my job to become a handicapper. ;)
