  • Currently in Lexington, Kentucky, about 4 hours from home getting a bite to eat. Left my dad's house at 7 this morning. Ohio was a joy to drive through. Hit snow just past Perrysburg, and was in some pretty gnarly weather until I got into Kentucky. Saw lots of cops, mainly because they were assisting people that had gone into the ditch or collisions. Saw at least 10 cars that had slid off into ditches and at least 2 more collisions.

Glad to be back in the land of 40 degrees and light rain, much better than the snow. They are expecting 5-8 inches of snow by this afternoon in Ohio.

      • Just been told by the Mrs that we are off to Tarifa for New Year!! Hahahahahaha...., SUPERB!! She even booked the flights for AFTER the Hibs game. I just do not deserve her at all. It's fking Baltic here in Scotland, so the warmer weather will be very welcome.

        • Main sights
Tarifa seen from the Isla de Las Palomas

Historical landmarks of the city include:

          • the well-preserved Guzman castle, near the port, built by order of caliph Abd-ar-Rahman III (960). Annexed are the Guzm?n el Bueno Tower (13th century) and the church of St. Mary, on the site of a former mosque
          • remains of the medieval walls. Of three gates once existing, today only the Puerta de Jerez (13th century) has survived
          • Church of St. Matthew, built in the early 16th century in Gothic style, also over a former mosque. The fa?ade was redesigned by Torcuato Cay?n de la Vega in 1774.
          • The ruins of the Roman city of Baelo Claudia, located nearby.

Tarifa has become a popular spot for northern-Europeans to spend their summers. The coast of Tarifa is also popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers due to the strong winds of the straits. For this reason Tarifa is also dotted with hundreds of wind turbines.

Tarifa is a renowned place to watch migrating birds, in particular the storks which cross the Straits of Gibraltar in spring and autumn. Also whale and dolphin watching can be done on the 14 kilometer wide Straits.

                  • Yip, right on the Strait of Gibralter. My brother in law has a flat in Tarifa, but he is off to a place called Fernie, (south of Calgary in Canada) for a Skiing and snowboarding "thing" with all his mates......, he told Sacha the flat is ours for a few weeks. We are only going until the 6th......, I've got a stupid heating job starting in Edinburgh on the 7th which I can't delay until another day.

Have a great time. It was a balmy 5 degrees Fahrenheit here when I went to work this morning.
