Didn't really need a new TV but AE & I were looking at the 3D's. I really liked the LG and Best Buy gave me a deal I could not pass up.... a 55" Cinema 3D smart TV for the same price as a 42" ($700 difference). Something about them dropping ( or losing ) the LG line. Anyway, we were looking 42 or 47 inch, so really happy with the 55. Sweetest picture ...
Came with a Blue Ray player, sadly, Amazon couldn't touch it....... we are ready for some Football.

Right now PANASONIC is the best pound for pound deal (and quality). And that is coming from a Sony fan boy who itches everyday to buy this set:

Yeah, I have a Sony in the BR, really love it. Didn't really like the Panasonic, although that is what Directv recommends. I like the no-maintenance glasses with the LG, and we are happy. I suppose the newness will wear off soon. LG can also convert 2D to 3D, not as real as 3D, but still pretty awesome.

Bought a 42" Plasma Panasonic in 2006 just after we moved back to MI. It's only 720p, but for my needs and room size it's great.

I believe you also need to sit further back the larger the tv as well...
