the kiddos had a belt promotion test for tae kwon do yesterday, and I have a fancy new iphone so I videotaped their board breaking - the first one is my 5 year old daughter. She really struggled with the back fist in practice. She couldn't break it, so it would hurt her hand & then she would get gun shy. So I was a VERY proud mama when she broke it on the first try during testing!

this one is my 11 year old - he should be a black belt around his 12th birthday.

thanks Bim, I am very proud of my boy. We signed him up for tkd as a way for him to get some exercise, but it has turned out to be his "thing" - he loves it and has turned out to be quite good at it, too. In fact, he was asked by the Masters to join the demonstration team in September, and he is the only non-black belt on the demo team.
My daughter, on the other hand, just likes to dress up in the uniform and watch herself in the mirrors. Not sure how far she will take it, but it has been good for her, too."I ain't the type to bitch, I ain't the type to cry, I will sit at your red light and wait for your shit to go by."

I couldn't take in and understand any of the posts on this page because DanO has got a new avatar. It's a very nice avatar too. I'll look at that some more because it's making my day, then read all the other stuff."...when Hibernian won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

aw, you are so sweet - thanks for asking LFIJ. Disney trip is scheduled for Jan 12 - 15, we were able to raise about 75% of the cost of the trip, and my sister & I are splitting the difference (and then everyone is on their own for the airfare). My mom has had 4 chemo treatments so far, and she has been dealing with it pretty well - it makes her really tired, and has drastically reduced her appetite, but she hasn't had too much nausea and hasn't lost any hair yet. Unfortunately she still has some pain, but they are trying to fix that. The doctor is going to work her chemo schedule around our trip so that she will have as much energy as possible while we are down there. We are staying right on the property, so if she gets worn out we can get her back to the hotel for rest pretty easily. She still doesn't want to talk about final arrangements or anything; she is convinced that she will beat this. I'm glad she has a positive attitude, but want to be prepared to carry out her wishes if she is not successful."I ain't the type to bitch, I ain't the type to cry, I will sit at your red light and wait for your shit to go by."

I'm glad to hear you've got the trip all arranged, and I'm sure everyone is going to have a great time. It's nice that the doctor is working the chemo treatments around the trip, because it definitely is a lot of moving around when you're down there.2015 AAL - Ezekiel "Double Digit Sacks" Ansah.

yeah, we are going to rent her a wheelchair and that should help a little bit, but I'm fully expecting a daily nap (my 5 yr old might need one too!) to keep her from wearing herself out"I ain't the type to bitch, I ain't the type to cry, I will sit at your red light and wait for your shit to go by."
