That's still good to hear Deb. I lost a Golden to hemangioma lymphoma sarcoma. He'd slowed down a little but not much, then he suddenly stopped eating on a friday. I tried all the tricks to get him to eat without success. Took him on Monday and his abdomen was taught, he was in pain. The x-ray and ultrasound showed many masses in his spleen and a large amount of fluid build up the vet was certain was blood. That quick it was time to make the call.
At least you get time with him to enjoy and get ready. I'm so sorry for your pain. The deal with dogs is when you get one you sign a contract from your heart. There's almost no payments and a ton of interest to the good for most of the duration but it comes with one excruciating balloon payment at the end. It never makes it easy but the scales are tipped so far to the good it's impossible to not have a dog or two in your life. At least that's my cheesy opinion.Benny Blades~"If you break down this team man for man, we have talent to compare with any team."

Aww, sorry to hear that. I was afraid his was a hemangioma also...and the three days between seeing the cancer surgeon and having the operation was the longest three days of my life. Was so afraid his tumor was going to rupture in the meantime. As it turned out, it didn't rupture because it wasn't that sort of tumor. Seems to be a common cancer for Goldens. Which is just rotten. They're the best dogs ever...why are they so susceptible to this?!#birdsarentreal

They weren't 20-30 years ago. I keep hearing the backyard breeders really put the hurt on the dog's health and even temperament. I'm amazed the Lab breed keeps it's stamina without the same health problems.
When I adopted from the Golden Rescue the woman I worked with told me 75% of the dogs they adopt out are going by some type of cancer. Other people I know blame the dog food companies. Who's to say? .Benny Blades~"If you break down this team man for man, we have talent to compare with any team."

Sonny had a seizure in the middle of the night. Scared the crap out of me and I'm sure him as well. And it's been three hours and he's just now starting to remember who I am. He was completely lost afterwards. Growled at me, growled at himself in the mirror. Didn't remember where the door was to go out.
This wasn't in the plan. Of course the roads have to be fricken terrible out today. Not sure what's going to happen. Seeing him like that...that wasn't him. I would put him down. And if this is a sign that the cancer has spread to his brain...same thing. I don't want him to suffer.
He had been feeling so good, too. :(
Will know more later.#birdsarentreal

Oddly enough Deb, my dog that had tumors suffered from seizures as well. The Vet told us they werent life threating and gave us a recipe to feed him that all but eliminated it. It was mainly yogurt and something. I can try to get it for you. Hope it isnt anything serious!Your right! Matty Boy will save us all!!

However, we did put our dog on a raw diet.(Raw Meat). And any dog I have from here on out will be on it as well. I found a local butcher and got them to give me beef trimmings at a very acceptable price. You can buy chicken relatively cheap. Throw in some raw eggs and it wasnt that much more expensive and the dog absolutely loved it. Do stay away from pork bones! My dog would vomit afterwards every time. Chicken bones are fine as long as they are uncooked and cow bones as long as they are at a size the dog can handle.Your right! Matty Boy will save us all!!
