took a power scooter to the local Rolling Thunder Chapter and donated it so another vet that can use it won't have to buy it...It was my bud's, the RT guys are going to refurbish it and place a memorial plaque with his name on it....was a great day filled with great people.

OMFG
Getting three separate laps while driving MBZ AMG's today was beyond just fun.
My first lap was in a SL 63, $150K badass vehicle. I hit about 98mph on the back straight away (set up for about 105mph max per the MBZ team answering questions).
My second lap was in a E 63 that was nice and throaty as well but not nearly as capable and responsive as the SL 63.
With one last run available, and the C 63 everyone was raving about calling to me, I decided to take my last run in the SL 63 again and I am glad I did.
Every run required us to have a pro driver in our passenger seat (if we decided to drive) and by the end of my 3rd lap, my pro was telling me that was a great run. I got several comments of "perfect apex" calls and "you nailed it" at the end from her. I hit 102 (you only had a fraction of a second at the end of the straight to find the OD and check your speed) or so on the straight away.
I love me some gutteral, throaty, exhaust sounds when driving fast.
Now how in the world am I going to find me $150K + to get my hands on one of those monster street cars?Last edited by Panoptes; October 2, 2010, 10:22 AM.19.1119, NO LONGER WAITING

Sweet test drive Gonz. Sounds like you made the most of it. Going fast in a car designed for speed is a pleasure. You may have already mentioned it, but how did you score this opportunity, and can you bring anyone with you next time (wink, wink)?

Thanks Bimmer. I am still buzzing from it this morning.
The test driving event was by invite only (Fri-Sun) and apparently the invites went out to current or former MBZ owners. My Uncle (by marriage and owner of a E class MBZ) received the invite and wanted to take someone who would appreciate the need for speed. That is where I enter into the picture (albeit as his third choice after his his step-son (my 1st cousin), was too busy to attend, and his wife, my 1st Aunt, didn't want any part of it).
Just another case of life proving that its not what you know, its about who you know.
Btw, the road test track was about 2.5 miles long containing all types of driving conditions necessary to test the braking, cornering, acceleration and straight away prowess of the vehicles.Last edited by Panoptes; October 2, 2010, 10:41 AM.19.1119, NO LONGER WAITING

Thanks DANO.
Nothing beats stomping the gas pedal and knowing there are no repercussions for going as fast as you can while also knowing the vehicle you are driving is set up to the point you can't fail in pushing it to your own limits (because the limits of the car exceed your own).19.1119, NO LONGER WAITING

This is not non-football related, but my son and I are about to get into the car to go to New Orleans to watch the Saints/Carolina game.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

I get that 3 times a year... and mechanically speaking, there is nother better.......The only logical explanation is:
I'm about to die and this is my Jacob's Ladder
