You are not going to believe this but, my first concert was Bob Segar. I was in middle school (they called it Jr. High then) and he played our HS. Cost for admission was $.50
I went to see him again two years later at Cobo Hall where he played a benefit for people that solicited donations for St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Tickets were free because we went door to door asking for donations. Both concerts were unforgetable.
I have seen him twice since as well as Chicago, The Who, Yes, and Peter Frampton.I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

Yes, I've always been a dork.

Mine was The Dead Milkmen - and it was awful. Lucky for me I've seen lots of great concerts since then... the Bob Dylan / Paul Simon tour a few years ago was probably the best show I've ever seen, although The Allman Brothers would be a close 2nd."This is an empty signature. a good share of the awful-ness of the Dead Milkmen show could be attributed to the venue - the acoustics were really bad, so it was just a lot of noise from where I sat..."I ain't the type to bitch, I ain't the type to cry, I will sit at your red light and wait for your shit to go by."

Jr high is often used for a school that houses 7,8,9 grade. Middle school is for 6,7,8 grades.
My first concert was REM at Pine Knob. It was pretty good.
The best show was either muddy waters/George thourghgood at Pine Knob or Etta james at the zoo here.To be a professional means that you don't die. - Takeru "the Tsunami" Kobayashi

Can't remember what my first concert was. Maybe The Guess Who in Cobo Hall. The best I saw was Yes in Cobo somewhere around 75 or 76 followed by Little Feat opening for Buffet around 88 or so, John Hiatt a couple of years ago and then probably Blue Rodeo in a little club in Burlington. I saw a bunch of shows in the Silver Dome, Olympia and Cobo in the '70s. Aerosmith, Jethro Tull, ZZ Top (paid 5 bucks) Todd Rundgren, Outlaws Mahogany Rush, Black Oak Arkansas, Foghat, Nugent etc etc. Had tickets to see Emerson Lake and Palmer and got rear ended on the way to Cobo. Saw the Bodeans a couple of times in the late "80s and I saw some really great blues acts. James Cotton, The Kinsey Report, Albert Collins, Albert King, Robert Cray, Koko Tayor (3 times), Lonnie Brooks, Delbert McClinton etc..
I haven't gone to many concerts over the past 10 years or so but hope to try to get to some more now that the kids are getting old enough to stay home alone.
SLF, I saw George Thourogood in about 85. Johnny Winter opened for him. It was a great showLast edited by CGVT; August 16, 2010, 03:57 PM.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
