  • Congrats Sharky! Long overdue.

    Somewhat on the same thread.....

The great uncle of one of my t-ball players was wearing a Vietnam Vet hat last Thursday when he came to watch practice. I asked him what he did and he told me he was a USMC F-4 driver and was shot down twice but rescued both times.

I gave him the very best salute I could!

      • VV should spit back at those mo fos who are honoring them way too freaking late.

In my book, better late than never does not apply for those vets who were so disrespected (my father, a couple of Uncles and many friends of mine picked up in life as well).

Wu Tang Clan stayed at the hotel I worked at when I was in college. It was less than a week after the hotel had opened. One of the guys called and asked for an iron, but he said it as "ion". He had to repeat it a few times before I figured it out.

Then, we had a rush and I forgot to take it to him. About 30 minutes later he called again, so I took it over straight away. I can't imagine what he thought about this little white boy from Montana who didn't know what an "ion" was.

                          • Living in A2 we have quite a diverse population. Sometimes I get on the phone with a customer who doesn't speak very good English and it's really difficult trying to decipher what they are saying--------------especially if they're a little excited because they have a water leak in the house.

Funny thing is, I kept thinking that the whole time I was there. People were telling me welcome home and I got "home" in 1973. I appreciate the gesture but it seemed a little shallow, kinda like waiting until today to tell Mickey Lolich what a great game he had in the '68 World Series.
I am proud of the fact that I was there to guard the gates of freedom which helped give us the liberties we enjoy today. I was there mainly to honor of the 58,000+ names on the moving wall who were not as fortunate as myself to have survived, 4 of whom I knew. Had to wait in line for an hour, but well worth the trip.

I gave that thought heavy consideration, but decided to debut the jersey at the Forum Game instead. I did, however flip off Curly's statue. To be honest, the only sports related garb I saw was a Blackhawk's hat. Not bad considering they were expecting 100,000 visitors.

                              • I will always honor those that served that war until the day I die.

Thank you SB and all those that served alongside you.

Even though I was but a young tot, I know I missed my father while he was serving over there. I was fortunate enough to have him make it home.
