        • Good luck Islair on your fledling art career. Let me know if you ever have any So Cal showings.

Btw, count me as a NON-fan of HDR and too much post production work.

          • That Pere Marquette Hotel interested me. A good portion of Ludington is called Pere Marquette Township. And there is a monument to Father Pere Marquette there, at the site where he died.

            Anyways, congrats, Islair!!

I actually have only been only using the HDR style for about a year now and was a traditionalist when it came to my photography before that. When I moved to the Peoria area there were several photographers that seemed to have a lock on the market, they have great work and have a great reputation as pillars of the community for the last 15 years or so. Was kind of hard to compete with that and I did a few things but I seemed to be just another photographer, photographing the same things as others, and chasing the big names around here. The HDR was a way for me to seperate myself from the pack some, and was probably the only reason I was accepted to the show, because for now I am really the only person in the area marketing the style. Hopefully it works out.

Thanks for all of the great comments everyone, and Ill keep you posted about how the shows worked out.

                    • Deb-- a historian here in the Stee wrote a book about two years ago that claimed that Father Marquette died here in the Stee by the north channel, and that all the books claiming that he died in Ludville are wrong.

I am not sure why I am chiming in here but is it possible he physically died in the Stee but was brought to Ludington for public examination?

The more I frequent photog forums, the more I see the growing distaste for HDR. Its become overused and many times horribly distorting.
