Even though it will be July when your out here, it is SF. Make sure you bring long pants or jeans and a warm jacket. Not necessarily a winter parka but a fleece jacket or something similar.
BTW, tell your husband I said that Jerry Garcia was overrated!

The entrance to the BART Vent structure & Transbay Tube on the SF side is directly below the Ferry Bldg.
To get into the area, you need a special key and radio the BART control center for permission to enter.
