He is known for supporting fighting though this was a hit and he is doing the Flyers color so it could have been both, but we don't here what he has to say after that clip.

The officials DO have the power to instantly whistle a play dead if they deem a player is in significant danger for injury or is currently severely injured.

Clement figured this was such a case in which the refs should have invoked that power. I can't say I totally disagree with him (Voracek looked like his brains had been blasted out of his ears), but I can also see why the refs did't (as Voracek didn't look to be in any immediate threat of further injury through that play).

When a player goes down the Officials do take notice.

Since Wings had possession of the puck and were in the offensive zone, the injured player was outside of the zone, I suspect they were hesitant to blow a whistle as it would take away a scoring chance.

Had there been a pool of blood on the ice, I am guessing they would have blown the whistle immediately. Allowing play to continue until a change of possession or stopage of play prevents teams from flopping to avoid intense pressure in the Defensive zone.

Why not? I've been worried about them ever since they completely ripped off Colorado last year and got Shattenkirk and Stewart for Eric Johnson...plus they got Halak for a hell of a bargain too because Carey Price made the goalie situation in Montreal bad enough that everyone knew they had to trade Halak and didn't get the most possible amount


But I still think they'll falter and the wings will pick up 1st place and another presidents trophy that Lidstrom won't touch

It is a marathon but you want to go into the playoffs with the team locked in, not trying to get everyone back on the same page. Now if there is a team that can refocus based on basically muscle memory, I think it's this one.

The outcome for ANA was determined about 10 days ago when they came out on the wrong end of a four point game versus LA basically killing their late season drive to the dance.

Sucked
