Meanwhile, the Bruins are left to lament 39 years of staring at Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito pictures hoisting the coveted prize......

Agreed, 39 years is a long time to keep seeing that video of Bobby Orr jumping in the air after scoring the Cup wining goal.

I'd just be hard pressed to say that Boston fans "want it more" than Vancouver fans.

I'd bet the hunger is pretty damn well equally strong for both sides.

Vancouver had the joy of celebration for Canada gold medal though.

I suspect if you were to ask ANY Canadian what means more to them, hockey gold medal or the Stanley Cup, 99.9999999% of them would want the Cup.

Well, obviously, it's not 1 person in the country who values the Gold Medal over the Stanley Cup. That's hyperbole. I'm told I do that.

But the Cup is more important as a whole. It's why the country makes such a big deal that no Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup since 1989 or something to that extent.

Trust me, Vancouver fans are every bit as hungry for this as Boston fans.

Montreal and Toronto are more hungry for the Cup than Vancouver is. You have a lot more value for things once you've lost them, and Vancouver has lost nothing yet.

On a scale of 1-10, the Bruins are a 9 7/8
On a scale of 1-10 the Canucks are probably an 8.

On that same scale, the Maple Leafs are probably a 15.

While people, as fans, have more loyalty to their respective teams than they do to these ambiguous notions of patriotism. All Canadians were rooting for the same thing because it was something shared. In this case, the're not all Canucks fans, are they going to share the cup with Canada? Not likely, although I guarentee you the NHL will try and promote it that way.
