In the mid-90s they lost Primeau, Fedorov and Yzerman to various injuries prior to the one playoffs. They've been affected by serious injuries a lot over the last 20 years. In fact its one reason why they've had some early exits.

Bottom line is that they've lost two games by a one goal margin. Their age didn't affect the utter butt whooping they put on Phoenix. These are what you call small sample sizes.

They aren't any older than they've been. They like to rely on veteran players. The age card has been played on them for a long time.
