Only 2 or 3 years ago Dumars would be on the tip of most peoples tongues too.

    • That is a very short list, Bobby Clarke has had a rocky up/down relationship in Philly, but almost has won the Cup (as GM).

        Then came Darko

        • Darko was the wrong pick.. but most teams in the NBA would have made that pick. I think the bigger mistake was hiring flip saunders but thats impossible to prove.

If only the pistons had won the 3rd pick

          • Oh thought of another player turned successful GM.

            Ozzie Newsome.

            • Ozzie's a good one but I think the point is fairly proven. On court/ice/field talent seldom translates to management skill

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

While it was definitely a bummer to see Yzerman have to go to another team in order to get his shot... he knew he couldn't rightfully go any higher in the Red Wings organization.

Holland's earned the right to run the team however long he wants to, and Nill has earned the right to be the successor to Holland when Ken has decided he's run the team long enough. It would be a long wait to take over the Red Wings.

                            • Just got back from that game...I think they scored 3 in the last 3 minutes or something. They scored their first a minute and a half in too. Just as many Wings fans there as Kings and they hate Wings fans. My first hockey game at Staples and it was a great one.

                              • I watched most of the game as we were straightening up the house.

When it was 6-1, I knew it was a Wings win.

But LA didn't quit. I will give them that
