  • Back to the Red Wings.. I think one of the main downfalls of this team was our lacking in the faceoff circle. How did we take such a nose dive in that dept? I always thought we were much better then that. The sad thing is we dont have any cash to bring someone else in and with the exeption of Hudler this team will pretty much be the same.

This next year is a real transition year. We desperatly need our youth to make huge strides forward or we're in trouble.

Ericcson needs to regain his talent, Howard needs short term memory of the playoffs, and Filppula has to follow Dats and Z into the next tier of forwards.
    F#*K OHIO!!!

    • Well, maybe this is a good omen.

      49 years between cups.

Maybe the Lions are about to get their due.
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

          • I love Hollands latest comment!!! Please get an enforcer!!!

Holland said he might look to sign a gritty fourth-line forward or enforcer “that fits in at our price.”

              • Blues land playoff hero Halak from Habs for young Eller, Schultz

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Blues have acquired goaltender Jaroslav Halak, whose stellar play helped the Montreal Canadiens reach the Eastern Conference finals, for former first-round pick Lars Eller and another prospect.

                • They can't possibly be thinking that Carey Price is still their guy in goal...

                  ... can they?

                  • Looks that way, lol both Canadiens goalies, Halak and 22-year-old Carey Price, are due to become restricted free agents on July 1, and Montreal decided on Price.

Agreed. Looking forward to keeping our play-off stretch going for the next 5 years. Though it is sad that the extension came at the cost of Yzerman, but hopefully that means that he can come back in 10 years with some very good on the job experience.

                          • I'm just glad Stevie Y didnt go anywhere that he couldve done some damage. Tampa? Hockey? Please. Yeah they won it a few years back but that was lightening in a bottle (pun intended).

There's no interest in that state for hockey.

They won it when Mr. D was the owner. Mr. D knew how to produce Championship Teams.

I am not up to snuff on the new ownership but suspect they do not have the deep pockets Mr. D did.

                              • I'm not quite sure why he went there. Yzerman had turned down Minnesota a few months back and that ownership is much better. I believe the Palace crew just sold the Lightning again after they had to take it back after the old ownership defaulted on their loan. To me Minnesota > TB for hockey.
