EDIT: Good thing Howard didn't have to. Pavalski missed the net entirely... and he didn't even try to deke out Howard at all either. This game is so odd; I can't think of a playoff game where everyone looks like their skating with tired legs.

So we have attempt to injure Filp and headshot elbow to Mule, free powerplays left and right for the Sharks, free face offs, free no-icing calls, and more. Ok,

No call (?), which leads to a faceoff in our zone, then a turnover off that faceoff by Rafalski, and then the Sharks goal... thank you Ohalloran and Bettman

I think its safe to say the the refs had a DIRECT impact on that goal. Anyone who argues otherwise is an idiot, yes it was a turnover but the play should have never been in our end.

The Wings have nothing right now. They're completely out of gas. And the officials let a couple really nasty hits by the Wings go as well.

It's over. It's not the refs fault. The Wings simply hit the wall finally.

Sharks were faster and stronger. Seemed like they had one or two guys extra on the ice alomost the whole game.

Fair enough, the non-call on the Franzen hit was inexcusable though and, of course, San Jose scores the winning goal seconds later.

Bummer. I still can't believe that the Sharks will win it all. My guess is Chicago will take the West.

The Wings had a ton of injuries this year, they switched to an inexperienced goalie, they're coming off back to back trips to the Finals (and a trip to the Western Conference finals the year before), they started the season in Sweden, they had a bunch of players playing in the Olympics, and they worked their asses off to get into the playoffs. Overall, it wasn't a horrible year all things considered.

They're going to have to do something about faceoffs and their overall defensive play.

Got to find a replacement for Lilja. Ericson is gonna have to step up his game or he'll need to be replaced.

I understand there's a few d guys in Grand Rapids ready to come up. Bring 'em.

Yeah, that needs to be priority #1, 2, and 3 for the Wings this offseason.

There is no excuse for a defense to play as poorly as it did from start to finish with the experienced, veteran talent it sent out.

totally agreed. Ericsson flashes amazing play but has WAY too many lapses.
