  • Dave Louis can easily be forgot too.

Play better defense, its simple really. Play better defense, its simple really. Occams razor. You can't give up leads in the 3rd. or OT. And its been bad this year. I hope Babcock makes some changes to his philosophy.
Really simple is it? So simple that the best coach in hockey can't see it? I guess you know more than Babcock, Steve Yzerman and the Canadian Olympic should have picked you to be the Olympic coach its so simple.

    • Are you his son or something? Jeesh, you think this team is up 3-1.

I'm sure Yzerman knows they have to be better defensively, thats how he started winning cups.

      • Well, that's what I get for watching VS from last night while posting about not being swept since 1945 at the same time.

        • I honestly do not remember the Ducks sweep till you just bring it to my attention. That was the only year I did not watch or attend the playoffs (b/c of a bad injury I had in an accident) since 87. And I forgot about NJ, (purposely) what a horrible final that was from a Wings point of view. 2 months ago, I go over my buddys house and hes watching it, im like WTF are you watching that for? (granted he don't have VS or FOX but still)

          • What that byline is saying Wings fan is that this is the first time the Wings have been down 3-0 in a series and not been swept since 1945.

You can call it whatever you want, you'd still be wrong.

ANA just hired BURKE and he wanted to only give MB one year to see if he could improve upon his coaching of a more aggressive, forechecking philo for the team (and new GM preference). It was one year offer, take it or leave it. MB left. ANA strengthened its D over the next many years under BURKE and CARLYLE and have remained ultra competetive since then.

ANA landed a SC trophy in the post MB span so no one was/is missing MB.

That's not to say he isn't a respectable good coach, I'm just countering your statement that ANA or its fans are forever upset about losing him.

              • Todd Bertuzzi's paternal grandfather died and was laid to rest here yesterday. So his performance Thurday was to me at least all that more signifcant. Gotta be tough to concentrate under such sad circumstances.
I thought the Mule's performance was one of the best I have seen in years. I can't help but think San Jose will go all out to shut him down in Saturday's match. As a result I think it will open the door for a great performance from Datsyuk and Zetterberg. One period at a time boys.

                • If they can steal next game, then I think SJ will have something serious to worry about. I'm not saying the Wings are going to make history and rally back to win the series, but you gotta believe that the Sharks will be feeling some hellacious pressure if they don't close things out ASAP.

Not only will they have to come back to the Joe but all of their past playoff failures will be looming large over their shoulders.

Yea, I figured that out. Like I said posted watching tv sometimes im not concentrating on one or the other, still it was not as bad as my post that Jason Williams will have a great game

                              • Red Wings coach Mike Babcock: We've got to find a way to win tomorrow

"We won a game," Mike Babcock said at the team hotel. "We have to win another game. That's the big thing here, all these games, both teams have had opportunities to win. We've got to find a way to get a win tomorrow." Babcock said he'll stick with his two new top lines, leaving Johan Franzen with Henrik Zetterberg and Todd Bertuzzi and Valtteri Filppula with Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom.
Defenseman Brad Stuart said he is probable for Saturday's Game 5. He suffered a lower-body injury when he was hit by Rob Blake early in the first period Thursday, and didn't return to Game 4. Forward Patrick Eaves (elbow) is questionable.
