  • I doubt that anybody is still watching hockey but me. Dan Boyle of the Sharks just scored on a backhand into his own goal beating his own goalie Evgeni Nabokov (as the announcer called it) in the first minute of overtime in a scoreless tie. Unbeliveable!

    • The Sharks have just found out a new way to choke lol don't let the other team score - shoot the puck in your own goal in OT before the other team can!!!!!!

Nice backhand Dan Boyle, Nabokov didn't stand a chance... YOU JACKASS!!!

      • Yeah, I saw that... it's like the Sharks saw the Wings game and thought, "Aw, hell no. We aren't gonna let the Wings out-embarrass us! We'll show them!"

                They didn't look good today.
Yep...I do like Howard a good deal going forward. He has plenty of ability and you need to start somewhere.

We won't get out of round 2 with him IF we happen to defeat PHX...

                • I like Howard a lot and really want him to succeed but he needs to start playing smart hockey. He's making really shakey plays when trying to keep play moving ala the Kronwall miscue.

He's also been skating really erratic around the net. The :39 second goal to start the game he made a nice save then went into some crazy slide that took him out of position. He needs to get back to the basics. Make shit simple and not try to be Brodeur with the puck and Hasek all over the place. It doesnt suit him

                    Agreed.

Lidstrom has given us many years of sterling play and deserves a bit of slack but he seems to be hurting us also. He used to always be in the perfect position now he seems to be one step out of position.

I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

Kinda like that nuggethead that had the flyball bounce off his head and over the fence for a HR.

Added: Kinda takes that saying "good things happen when you put the puck on net" to a whole new level.

                          • Are the Wings playing with dull skates, they look like they are skating in quicksand and forgot how to play defense. Don't know whats up with Rafalski, it doesn't even look like the same player we saw during the Olympics.

                            • The pressure on the Sharks to get this playoff monkey off their backs just went up a few notches. Amazing how they turn into minnows at crunch time.

Boy, what can you say about the wings. When I was first projecting a sweep or five games at the most, it wasn't because I believe the wings are that good, but because I believed Phoenix isn't that good. Z is the only one who played a full sixty minutes yesterday and the Coyotes didn't miss a beat after Doan's injury. Howard, had one goal he definitely blew, and arguably a second. So I have taken the blinders off and reviewed the games more objectively. Phoenix is a more determined bunch than I gave them credit for. Many of the players have a lot of playoff experience and they have the ability to outmuscle the Wings. That having been said, Babcock is no stranger to these situations. I thoroughly expect he might change defensive pairings, throw Abdelkader out there with Bertuzzi, (who really needs to step it up) and possibly even start Ozzie. Switching goaltenders now may be extreme, but I could see Howard being pulled at the first sign of weakness.
There is too much history and pride on the Wings for a total collapse to occur.

                              • Looks to me like the Coyotes want it much more then the Wings do. Simple as that.
