Lidstrom has lost a step (or two) and can not carry the team on his back any more. But he still leads the team around +20. I can't believe (some) people compare not getting in to the playoffs in the Michigan forum as the Tigers on skates.

Fact is right now, they have a pretty weak Defense. Lidstrom lost a step and can not carry the team on his back any more.

It also doesn't help that Rafi has lost a step or two as well. I was really surprised at how well he played when USA was counting on him.

I think it's worse then the Tigers on skates. This team has no reason not to make the top 8 teams in the West. Injuries cost us more then a few wins BEFORE the Olympic break but they're all rested and healthy now.

Almost 20 years in the play-offs and 4 Stanley cups during that period I think gives the Red Wings the right to be off for a year or two. I am tired of this "what have you done for me lately" attitude and it would serve fans that carry that attitude right if in return the Wings go 20 years without a play-off appearance. Cherish what you have, remember what you have had, and remember as a Detroit fan that it could be worse, look no farther then the Lions.

Being the in the top 8 of a conference shouldnt be that difficult for this team. They've handed out some pretty decent paychecks over the last several years to expect that. This team is chalk full of talent yet most of their problems come when they start sitting on leads or blowing it in the shootouts.

If they didnt have the talent then I'd agree with you.

Good game for a must win. Now we need to see some consistency for the last 13 games to be able to have hope for a deep playoff run.
